This Hotel was the first hotel I ever stayed in over 40 years ago, back then it was charming. It has not kept up with the changes in that part of Paris. The original decor was tasteful it is now deplorable and no renovations have been undertaken despite the now exorbitant prices. It's a very small hotel even by Parisian standards. The bathroom stinks, the fluorescnet lights are offensive, the carpets in the rooms are dirty and smelly and the rooms are minute with absolutly nowhere to put anything and no fascilities whatsoever.. The unmatched decor is revolting obviously the cheapest they could get. The supercilious staff were oblivios of my request for a larger corner room. In six months of travelling in Turkey, Greece and Italy, including Athens, Rome, Naples and Istanbul this has to be the worst hotel and the most expensive that I have encountered...it's always full and they should have improved things, the owners are obviously too greedy to care.... Pathetic.
Such a shame because it's in a fantastic location even if the once genuine market street has turned into a pathetic parody of itself, butcher and fish shops have gone to be replaced by ultra expensive "gourmand" delicatessens. .....such is life.More
