“Great location!”
Reviewed 11 October 2013

I stayed here from 24th to 30th September. Room 14. The hotel is central to everything. Etienne Marcel metro stop is hardly a block away. Forum des Halles shopping centre is very close too. This isn't much of a tourist spot but more of a Parisian spot. Great shops (few sex shops thrown in from time to time, but not seedy) and great cafes. Walking distance to everything. Even the Eiffel Tower is only an hour's meandering walk away.

The rooms are Parisian. Small by North American standards, but Parisians are also much "smaller" than North Americans. The hotel has a great ambiance. The staff are courteous and professional. For a sit-down breakfast, 8 euros is comparable to any local cafe but, yes, you can find cheaper if you want to look. May be lunch by the time you find it though.

I speak fluent French, so I had no communication problems. It was a wonderful trip for my wife and I. Note that some rooms have a communal shower. Number 14 was great. Overlooked the front on the first floor (2nd in US). Blackout curtains filtered out any light. Slept with window open a few nights and wasn't kept awake. It's a great location.

I stayed at the hotel with my wife this July. The location is wonderful, it is actually close to Les Halles metro station as well as Etienne Marcel. The rooms are pretty small (yet they were cozy) while the hotel itself is pretty old. There is no air conditioning but it did not bother us as we kept our windows open.
Reception people were good but I liked Hector the most. He has a great personality and is always willing to talk.
All in all, it was a good hotel, I would recommend it to others.

Room Tip: Rooms looking out to the hotel entrance side are quite quiet although I did not stay in any other ro...

If you're thinking of going here in the summer, be advised: There is no air conditioning in the entire hotel, evidently. The lobby was hot. The room was like an oven with no ability to get a cross breeze. Outside temp was about 30 C. The staff will smile and often say that there is not much they can do. Maybe the Parisians love suffering in the heat?

Also, the street looks quiet but there are bars nearby and you hear them until about 2:00 am. Then about 6:00 am all the street sweepers and garbage trucks start up. It's a very noisy place and because it's outrageously hot you can't close your window.

Room Tip: Eat breakfast somewhere else for a better price.

Dear Sir,

thank you for taking the time to give us your opinion about our hotel.
We are very sorry your stay with us wasn't entirely to your satisfaction. We are aware that the recent heat wave Paris has been through has inconvenienced a lot of people (including the staff), and we try to make things as comfortable as possible. These high temperatures usually happen in August, period during which the hotel is closed, precisely because we don't have air conditionning. Unfortunately, we went through a fan shortage, which we can assure you we will remedy to for next year, to prevent any such problem to ever arise again.

Thanks again for your time, we appreciate it very much.
Kind regards,
Isabelle Gouge

This is a small privately owned B&B type hotel in an excellent location near Les Halles and the Louvre. There is a public underground car park nearby which is reasonably priced.

The decor of the public areas of the hotel is lovely. The rooms are simple but be warned that they are exceptionally small. This is fine for a one or two night stay if you're out all day exploring the city but I'm not sure a couple would want to share a room for any longer than that. Also be aware that there is no lift and the staircase is very steep and narrow. I'd really not recommend this hotel with any difficulties in getting up and down stairs.

Otherwise the staff were friendly and helpful and so generally I would recommend this hotel to others.

This hotel is located in a convenient central location, close to excellent transport links, and within walking distance of the main tourist attractions if you are visiting for a holiday. Staff are pleasant and helpful. The hotel has a quaint character, which some people might find a little twee or outdated, but I was quite happy with the small but clean room. The en-suite in my single room was small but very modern and clean. My only issue was with the noise from the street. The nights were very warm when I staying, and with no AC in the rooms the only option was to leave the window wide open. My room faced onto a busy street below. I am a deep sleeper and was just too tired in the evenings during my stay to be distracted by this. However lighter sleepers may wish to check in advance which direction the window of their room is facing. I thought the price I paid was very reasonable given the good location and the time of year I visited (mid-July). I did however book in advance.

Room Tip: If you're a light sleeper then double check you won't be in a room facing onto the busy stre...

In this location for that price I believe the hotel is hard to beat.

Reception is friendly and efficient. The checkin worked fine. Wireless for every floor. The rooms are charming and the sleeping experience was good. We slept with open window and there was no noise. Our bathroom might want to be renovated in a few years. But again for this price nothing to complain. Breakfast was simple but pretty much what you need to get started.

All in all nothing to complain!

We just stayed there and we loved the location. The price was good for the location. However, there is no ventilator, no AC, no nothing LOL. Just the bed and the bathroom. There is no place to hold the shower head, so we need to take a shower holding on the shower head too (good luck with that!). Staff in the morning very very nice, not so nice at all during the late afternoon.
Overall was the best price for that location... and was clean!

Room Tip: Be prepared to have no room to move around. You get a very small room without any extras. The locati...
