“Great Location”
Reviewed 13 May 2010

It was the best location in my opinion being close to the Metro, walking tours, Notre Dame and even not far from the Louvre. The Latin Quarter is full of restaurants and also with live music at night. It's on a narrow street that just seemed magical. The room was okay but clean and the staff was nice but a little loud and smelled like food coming from below. If you're on a budget, then you just can't beat the location and neat place overall.

Quaint. Clean. Friendly staff. No frills. Price is right. Stayed here in 2006 and again in 2009. It's now my "go to" place when in Paris for a short stay.

Hotel Les Argonautes was our first (3-night) stay on a 3-country European vacation. And I wish we stayed longer!

Booking the room was intimidating at first. They're not listed on booking sites, and their website isn't in English. BUT, if you e-mail them, they do write/speak English, and were very welcoming. They even happily held a piece of mail I had sent there (Muse concert tickets - amazing!), because International shipping is so expensive.

When we arrived, we stumbled through the 10 or so words of French I actually know, and they volunteered to speak English. We took our baggage up to the room using the (tiny) lift, but otherwise used the stairs. The room was simple and no-frills, but very clean, as was the toilet down the hall. It was perfect for us, who don't spend much time other than sleeping in the hotel room, but still have standards of safety/cleanliness.

We had breakfast there the first morning, and it was very simple, but delicious. Some baguette, a croissant, hot chocolate or coffee... it doesn't sound like much, but it filled us up and we loved it. (Did you know that in France it's illegal to put preservatives in bread?! That's why it tastes so much better, but goes stale so quickly) We may have eaten breakfast there every morning, but there were tons of pastry shops in the area, and we wanted to explore as much variety as possible.

The hotel is literally one block from the Metro, a short walk to Notre Dame and Saint Chapel, and a reasonable walk to Musee d'Orasy (Impressionist museum) the Pompidou Centre (modern art). It's on a street with dozens of restaurants, bars, shops, etc., so it's easy to find a place to eat, even if you're not sure what you want, or are self-conscious about speaking the language.

The location is perfect, the room was clean, the people are welcoming, and the price is right! I can't wait to visit again.

Great area. Latin Quarter is certainly a place to see. Full of launges and Greek restaurants. Two minutes away from Notre Dam walking. I'm not exactly sure why its called a hotel; I've never yet been in a hotel with one restroom per floor. Shower room had no door, but a curtain between it and wash(room?) which also had a curtain for a door.

I stayed there twice, 1st time in May08, 2nd in Oct08
In May08, I was traveling alone for first time visiting Paris, the hotel is in a very great location, near Saint-Michel subway station in which you can go everywhere (with express train to direct to CDG airport), Hotel area is awake all day and night, you can stay out around the area till 3am.
Both times I took rooms on the last floor which was little away from street noise.
The single rooms is very small compared to any B&B, they clean it every day, bathroom inside the rooms needs renovation, shared bathrooms are ok.
2nd time was with family, we took double room which was smaller than the single room that took before.
Overall, it is a good budget hotel for teen age, don’t book if you expect to stay in the room too much or have many luggages
By the way they have a lift.

Of the 3 hotels I stayed in in Paris, this one gets my worst review. The bed was lumpy and uncomfortable, tho clean. Some of the trim along the floor was missing exposing holes in the wall. It was really cold that night, but there was no heat in my room. There was a heater, but not functioning. My room faced the side alley, so the street noise was reduced, but still a bit loud. It did quiet down by around midnight tho, I think the cold forced people indoors. You must carry your bag up the initial 25 or so stairs, then there's a lift. It is in a good location, if you like being right in the middle of a touristy zone with lots of bars and souvenir shops, and central to most of Paris. The staff was nice.

This hotel is right in the center of everything. I could hear the bells of Notre Dame from my room...and it was not a disturbance, rather a beautiful reminder of where you were ;)

I was able to walk to a lot of places from here and if it was too far to walk, the metro/tour bus stop/ or taxi stand was close by.

The bed (the pillows were surprisingly very confortable) and shower and room was small, but it did the trick and they give you soap and douche gel. It was nice having a shower in the room. There was also a window looking out to the atrium...not a very pretty site, but it was quiter than one looking out to the street and the alley cats will keep you entertained in the dark. La Huchette is a loud street at night so if you're a light sleeper like me then ask for a quiet room.

If you get the breakfast ($5/day) they will bring it up to your room in the morning when you call down. Nothing fancy...croissant, baguette, butter, jam, and choice of milk, coffee or tea. The milk was good and cold!

There are plenty of bars, clubs, and cafes around so you definitely won't get bored. And the reception is open 24 hours.

There is info on tours in the lobby and you can store your bags there after check out.
