“Your all Asian one-stop-shop”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Tang Freres is like many good, solid Asian markets world wide, with that edgy familiar ambiance. On the chaotic side of junky. Like most all Chinese stores I've loved worldwide. It has a familiarity and consistency I personally welcome. A great find for those special Chinese, Thai, Vietnamese ingredients: bottled, pickled, jugged, jarred, canned, packaged, fresh, frozen, and dried. It has been described as huge. While I didn't find it huge in comparison to similar Asian markets worldwide, it has everything one needs or wants. Fresh fish (especially salmon) and meats (pork, chicken, beef, tripe) are more than half the price of regular Parisian markets, making the trek to Porte d'Ivry worth a metro or bus ticket. Fresh fruit and veg need careful inspection as the produce is variable in freshness and quality. A worthy and worthwhile find all around in pricey Paris.

“A piece of Asia in Paris”
Reviewed 26 April 2012

Not only the place for finding everything from Asia, but a real experience if you haven't visited Asia. It begins with the Lacked Ducks in Tang Gourmet, goes on with all the asian fresh fruit and has no limits.

“An abundance of Asian goodies at Tang Frères”
Reviewed 11 February 2007

I've lived in Paris for more than two years and Tang Frères is where I always go when I'm cooking anything Thai or Chinese. This is a great place if you're looking for those hard to find ingredients for Asian recipes. It's also fun to go just to wander around. You'll find great fresh produce and spices, like lemongrass, durian, ginseng, thai coriander and much, much more. I had to buy rice sheets for making spring rolls and they had such a selection, it was almost too much! Tang Frères supplies many of the Asian restaurants in the city, so if they don't have what you're looking for, probably no one will. If you're just visiting on your way around Chinatown, have fun wandering around trying to decipher the labels and try something new, like aloe vera dessert or leechee candy. To top it all off, everything is incredibly inexpensive, so if you can't make up your mind about what to get, try it all!
