We bought our tickets for Canal St Martin cruise and were waiting for an hour and a half to board, when a tour group arrived, 15 minutes before departure and we were told they would be given access to the boat first. There were about 10 to maybe 15 non tour members who had all been waiting for about an hour and suddenly this group arrives and they get preference. Not acceptable in our opinion. The captain of the boat would not let anyone who wasn't in the group board no matter where we were in the line, he was rude and arrogant. The onboard narration was mostly not understandable. We would listen to several Minutes of French dialogue and then get a few sentences in a very poor English translation, horrible. The cruise went for 2.5 hours, mostly this was spent going through the 4 double locks about 15 mins each. Pretty boring after the first one and if you don't have front row exterior seats you won't see much anyway. The tour group took all the outer front and upper deck seats, which we were told when we questioned the decision to let them on first, that they hadn't. We did a double back of the first part of the trip and the very slowly wound our way to the new Bastille Marina. The interior was often filled with diesel fumes as the boat idled waiting for the locks to open. You will need a hat as inside is mostly a glass roof and gets hot, open the windows let in the fumes. We felt this was a complete waste of the 34 euro spent and the 2.5 hours of boring touring.
