The hotel has good connection with subway transportation, is right next to Gambeta stop, the room was really small, the decor is 70's but it was clean. The gay on the reception desk was really helpful and fluent in English. Good free WI-fi connection. Not for a romantic trip in Paris, but OK for just sleepovers.

The whole place is decorated like a cheap porn movie.
The staff are unhelpful. I speak french, but with an accent, everytime I greeted them in French they responded in English. I asked about the wi-fi, they said it was my compuer that didn't work properly even though it was a problem with their network.
I was breastfeeding at the time and I leaked milk onto the sheets, they didn't change them all week.
I had to hand my key back everytime I went out.

Room Tip: Don't bother with here.

The hotel location is great, very close to a metro station, and in a fairly lively district, with several cafes, restaurants, bakeries, regional "traiteurs" and other shops around. Staff was ok. I had a single room, which was VERY small (room 44). With a double bed in the middle you didn't have a lot of space to move around and place baggage. Don't know if the other rooms are more spacious. The rooms are clean, the cleaning staff are also very polite. Overall the room had a somewhat "old" feeling, but everything was ok and functional (only the ventilation wasn't working). External sound insulation is very good - you could hear nothing of the noisy neighbors when you closed the window, however, in the interior you could hear almost any noise from the rooms above and the elevator (room was next to it). There was also wi-fi access in the room.

For the price, and if you won't spend a lot of time in the room, this is quite a good value for the money.

We stayed one night in a fourth floor room, and got no sleep at all. The noise from the floors above and beside was a problem (you could hear every step from the floor above). The room was musty, and when the shower ran, the windows fogged up as if the ventilation for the room was not working. The room was small even for rooms in Paris in this price range. We asked for a refund, and the hotel offered us a top floor room which was a little bigger, much quieter, and had much better ventilation and no musty smell. This room was, for the price, very appropriate.

Room Tip: Top floor if possible

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this hotel, and in fact, stayed an extra 2 nights after originally booking for 3. The management agreed we could have the extra nights at the internet price we paid too. The hotel was just metres from the metro stop Gambetta and surrounded by cafes restaurants, delis, and all other suburban services including a clean laundrette. It was a lengthy ride on the metro to the major highlights of Paris but one price no matter how many stops you go. There is also a bus from Place Gambetta which goes all the way to the Eiffel Tower for a very small fee, via many other sights including the Louvre. Our hotel room was spacious, quiet, air conditioned and had opening windows. Wifi was also free. We loved the location, not many tourists but so interesting watching the locals shopping while we sat in Place Gambetta at one of the many bars. There was a huge outdoor fresh market too. The entrance to the famous Pere Lachaise cemetery is minutes away.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the back of the hotel if you want quiet

This is perfect for a quick sightseeing holiday in Paris. It is basic, no frills but clean and friendly in a really nice district of the City. We slept in both days for breakfast and ended up eating in one of the restaurants next door. Once we had checked out we were allowed to leave our bags in reception until we had to get our train home. I had problems getting my Iphone to work on the wifi but was told it usually works with laptops. There is free wifi in Cafe Gambetta 2 doors down so it wasn't an issue.
This is perfect for a family trip but if returning for a romantic weekend I would choose something a bit more upmarket.
