“Overcharged and refused refund - don't stay here!”
Reviewed 19 December 2013

Great location, but my praise ends there. I was overcharged (which I mentioned while there, but the staff always say they don't know how to do anything and need to refer it to a manager later) and have been trying to get my money back for months. My emails were ignored initially, and now that they finally answered, they are refusing to repay my money unless I give credit card details. (as if I'd give credit card details to a company who has already stolen from me!) DON'T STAY HERE!

This little hotel in the St. Germain area of Paris exudes the French hotel life. Contrary to a previous reviewer, I found the personnel most gracious and accommodating. The hotel interior has been renovated and displays a modern style of interior design. Beds are typically European, e.g. Very firm mattresses. Rooms are small and well appointed. Bathrooms are replete with modern fixtures sans bidet. Breakfast is offered for a fee and is hearty enough, with eggs, if wanted, to keep you going until late afternoon.

Room Tip: Room no. 44 has a great street view. The Metro runs under hotel so the higher floors are quieter.

This is a terrible hotel. How on earth it got any good reviews from other travellers is beyond comprehension. Situated in a good location in the heart of Saint-Germain, that's the only good thing that can be said. This is a very small hotel. Small. Very, very small. The elevator is a complete joke, certainly the smallest I have ever encountered. The staircase is even smaller - a thin circular thing so cramped it's impossible to climb with any luggage. And the rooms are small too - ours was on the second floor, very small and with a small bed that had a cheap foam mattress. Everything is the smallest possible. Great for dwarfs, but not for normal sized people.

Then there is the matter of the subway line that runs straight under the hotel. Loud rumblings can be heard every few minutes, loud enough to disturb conversation. A total joke. Don't stay here if you actually want to sleep.

The promotional photos are completely misleading. This is a pokey little hotel, not very good quality, and very, very small. Cramped is a good word. Avoid this hotel.

i travel often to Paris and have never encountered a more rude and obnoxious hotel employee.

We were welcomed kindly by the afternoon manager however after that the stay turned sour.

First, the rooms are not as they appear in the photos. In both rooms we stayed in the blankets were old and in need of being replaced. Sheets were bearable but the blankets were gross. One bathroom was renovated but the other bathroom was beyond outdated. This hotel was by no means cheap and for the price tag it was a disappointment.

One adult and child in our party was on the 1st floor. We asked if they could be placed on a higher floor closer to us and were told not possible on the first night but they could move the next day. The 1st floor room was in desperately in need of a renovation. The metro trains running directly underneath every 10 minutes were devastatingly loud. The adult went to the desk at 1am asking if there was any other rooms available and also to insist that she be moved in the morning as she was traveling with a child and it was impossible to sleep. Reception assured her the trains would stop soon for the night. Once the trains stopped drunk guests returned singing and banging their way up the stairs from 2am-3am. Being on the first floor they heard everyone passing by and found no relief at any time as the trains began again at 4am. A very uncomfortable night leading to exhaustion the next day.

The morning receptionist was rude, unhelpful and actually laughed at the predicament with other guests in the lobby. He spoke english at first but when we asked about canceling one room so two from our party could move to a nearby hotel he would not speak english although he understood perfectly. He told us he knew about no hotels in Paris and could offer no suggestions and not even an apology for the discomfort. He could care less about the comfort of his guests - should not be in the hotel industry with that attitude. There was absolutely no sense of customer service, kindness, professionalism or hospitality from this manager. When he began to smirk and laugh at our discomfort we took the hit on the cost of the two rooms and left. On the street waiting for a taxi the manager from the night before was leaving and stopped us in the street to apologize for his colleague's rudeness and lack of sensitivity. There are plenty of little pensionnes and hotels in the area, no need to stay here and put up with this ungracious service and uncomfortable hotel.

Room Tip: don't accept any room below the 5th floor, matter of fact stay someplace else!!!

The main appeal of the hotel has to be its location, in St Germain, snuggled between 2 metro stations it makes getting around the City by train so easy. Also a few minute walk in one direction will take you straight into the Jardin du Luxembourg and in the other direction you will be on Boulevard de St Germain with a great buzz and my favourite Parisian Cafe - Cafe de Flore.
The staff are so warm and friendly and the room was clean ad comfortable. If you are a light sleeper and an early to bedder, you may struggle to get over whilst the metro is still running as the nose of the metro passing underneath can be heard from the bedrooms.

I will definitely be staying here again.

We had 11 family members staying in 5 rooms: and yes, rooms tend to be small, as per expectations. However:
1. extremely nice and helpful staff - we were even able to check into our rooms at 11:30 instead of having to just drop bags until 2pm or later.
2. AC worked GREAT.
3. Location is easy wlaking to major sites - Notre dame; Pantheon; Latin Qtr; Musee D'Orsay, etc.
4. Cafe just 2 doors down for breakfast/dinner was extremely convenient and good. And there is a Starbucks on St Germain just a few blocks away.
5. Metro stop and taxi stand just 2 blocks.
If you want a slightly larger room try for the 15, 25, 35, 45, 55 corner rooms.

Room Tip: See note about room size on corners.

Decor heaven - hung silk wallhangings, original art nouveau wardrobes, even a little bath - slept like a log! Location was great for upmarket shops and cafes. Even breakfast worked out well as a Coeliac - portion packs of cheese, plain yoghurt, little jars of honey - I just brought my own cereal.
