Pros:
Well located in the Latin Quarter
Easy walk to Seine, Notre dame, Pantheon
Close to subway
Coin operated laundry nearby
Eric Kaysar bakery nearby which can be a less expensive alternative for breakfast/lunch
Nice, traditional interior
Good management: changed my room when I had a noise problem; upgraded my room

CONS:
Pricey
All but the single rooms face the street and it is noisy at all hours (the higher up, the less the noise carries)

Room Tip: The higher up the room, the less the street noise

Loved staying here, everything was in walking distance, you can see the Parthenon and Notre Dame from here. Stayed in the cheapest attic rooms, they were well appointed with French doors opening onto a little balcony where you could watch the street. Staff very helpful and spoke excellent English. Had breakfast once, very nice but lots of choices in the streets below. Would recommend anyone to stay here, very clean and charming.

Room Tip: looking for value for money, book the attic rooms on their website, they have a special deal for 5 d...

We stayed four nights in a deluxe room. Location is nice if you want a more chilled out, relaxed scene with restaurants, Notre dame and the seine nearby. We stayed the remaining 6 nights in Paris over the river near Republique metro stop and found this area to be more suited to us as it just seemed to have a busier, livelier vibe. Plus we found the metro lines at Republique to have easier access to sites, other lines etc. Anyway, room was nice. Very spacious and we had two windows. However, no mini fridge and the shower had a hand held hose with the holder screwed in right near the taps. I have no idea why they just didn't screw the holder up a little higher and it therefore could act as a shower too. Floors walls and ceilings are super thin so don't expect much privacy although this may be the norm for Parisian hotels. The service at the front desk was to the point but lacked warmth or friendliness or even a simple smile (although Brigitte was friendly). It almost felt like we were disturbing the staff when handing in our room key every time we left (hotel policy). Lacked tourist pamphlets in the lobby and overall our stay at this hotel did not leave us with a feeling of ever wanting to return. The staff at the other hotel we stayed at always greeted us with a smile and even small talk. They even remembered our room number by day 2 despite being similar sized to St Jacques. Overall, you can get better hotels in Paris for cheaper.

Dear Guests,
Your review is very important to us as we always keep on mind that each review helps us to improve the quality of our hotel.
We are sorry that you didn't complain about the shower we would have solved the problem by giving you another room at least.
We regret that you did not appreciate a part of our team at the front desk , as usually they are very helpful and outgoing as you can also read on most of the reviews on Trip Advisor.
Finally we understand your decisive choice for a hotel in the Republique area as it is cheaper but not central.

My wife and I booked Saint Jacques based on the recommendation of a friend who runs tours to France. The hotel is located in the Latin quarter below the Pantheon. We booked 13 days so we had a great opportunity to interact with the hotel staff. The hotel itself was excellent and well situated for most of the attractions we wanted to visit. We booked a superior twin and were on the 1st floor (2nd floor as we reckon it in the U.S.) and the room was spacious, extremely clean and quaint with plaster moldings on the ceiling and painted murals. The room was equipped with a shower. The staff was friendly and professional; their suggestions on restaurants and attractions to visit never disappointed. We depended most on Bridget, Teo and David who were always willing to help.
Typically, we would have breakfast outside the hotel for the experience, but when we took our day trips outside of Paris we had breakfast in the hotel in order to save time . The breakfast was excellent; continental does not really describe it as they provided much more than you expect from a typical continental breakfast and would also cook eggs to order. The croissants and bread were equal to those we found in the boulangeries and the service attentive. Both Bridget and Teo provided excellent metro and bus directions to the places we wanted to visit.
We were delighted with our experience and would definitely stay at the Hotel St. Jacques again.

Room Tip: The elevator does not go to the top floor so unless you don't mind carrying your luggage up a fl...

The hotel was a perfect boutique hotel. Great location. Rooms comfortable, very clean. Bathrooms a tad small. Elevators, free internet access, very helpful staff. Easy walk to Notre Dame. Easy access to boat tours. Lots of restaurants, etc. We would definitely return.

This hotel adorable if you are looking for a very French experience. Some might find the historical decorations too much, but we loved them. Plaster moldings on the ceilings, colorful fabrics and wall papers, even the reception is "period." In practical terms, it is well run, clean, and modernized regarding bathrooms, lighting, etc. Location is superb, and I stay in this neighborhood whenever I vist Paris. 5 minute walk to Notre Dame, and metro, RR,buses nearby. Rentable bikes down one block. Our room was technically a triple, so perhaps an upgrade? Spacious enough, with a nice desk/work space. Clean bathroom, but with the tiny showers common in this class hotel in redone buildings. Elevator is small, but I have seen smaller! Breakfast was extra---we walked to the boulangerie one block west instead (Just be aware that if you order eggs there you get 4 of them!) Lots of restaurants of all types withing several blocks. Check their web site for specials before using a booking service or site.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a balconey if you like to watch street life in the city. They have one floor wit...

This was our trip of a life time and Hotel Saint-Jacques was perfect. Location away from major tourist areas, nice sized room, very clean bathroom, air conditioning, elevator and excellent staff that helped when ever they could. The metro was close but we enjoyed the walking and quickly found ourselves at Notre Dame. I always felt safe. We ate breakfast out most of the time but one the last day we used the hotel and had great personal service. We stayed on the 4th floor and could leave the window open for street sounds or close it up and sleep quite soundly. The Hotel has such history but has kept its charm while still meeting the needs of a modern traveler.
