“Great Stay and helpful staff”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 September 2013

I stayed at Le Village with a friend for three nights and I must say it was a great experience. We had a mix up with our reservations but the staff helped us sort it out. The location was a bit sketchy at night but the hostel itself was great. We had our private room and bathroom which was nice. I would definitely go back there.

Located in Montmartre the funky, arty part of Paris Le Village hostel is basically at the foot of the Sacre Coeur (sacred church). It's a great area to be based in (kind of reminds me of the Lanes in Brighton a bit) however, it's a 30 minute walk to Central Paris and 45 minute walk to the Eiffel Tower for example. Having said that, In Montmartre itself there are lots of lovely restaurants, cafe's and bars so you don't need to go very far to get food and drink. There is also a supermarket directly opposite the hostel for picking up anything you need. Staff in the hostel were really friendly and always happy to help and give tips on where to go. Breakfast is included in the price (7.30-9.30am) which is basic but will fill you up until lunchtime. We met some great people whilst we were there (Egyptian, Taiwanese, Brazilian) and everyone who stayed in the hostel was friendly and considering it was my first ever hostel experience i felt very relaxed and at home. The bonus of being a bit further out of town is that you walk the street of Paris and get a real feel for the place (or if you're lazy jump on the metro which is 2 minutes from the hostel!)

The hostel is really well located, in a 5 minutes walk from the metro station and right in the middle of the of the Montmartre district. As this district is known for its nightlife it could feel a little strange for some people to walk around alone.
The staff is wonderful! Very nice and helpful! The lady at the breakfast is so sweet.
The breakfast is very good and the wifi at the reception works fine.
The building is not so high however with only stairs. There is a terrace with some chairs right under the sacre coeur. This terrace gives acess to some rooms. So, if it is raining (what actually happened to me), you will get wet going to your room.
The room I got was small however not uncomfortable. It had 2 bunk beds and one table. The toilet and the shower were in separated doors.
The really bad thing for me in this room was (beside the rain shower) the window in the roof which made the room bright early in the morning.

Room Tip: If it is raining of snowing try to get a room inside the building.

I really enjoyed staying in Le Village. I stayed in Montmartre (in this hostel) for a couple of nights, and then moved to a hostel near Latin Quarter to see more of central Paris. This hostel is far away from central Paris, but then again the metro is very simple and quick to use, and the distances are so large anyway that you almost have to use the metro no matter where you live in Paris.

The rooms seemed clean and the separate shower and toilet were modern and clean as well. I stayed in a 3 bed mixed dorm, but the entrance to our room was around the corner from the reception and rest of the rooms. I was always really jealous of those who had rooms above the reception, because they had this beautiful rooftop terrace.

The kitchen was nice, was a very comfortable and homely feeling, lovely atmosphere, lovely people. Friendly and funny staff. Great area. A bit dodgy perhaps, because of all the sex show places, but it had Sacre Cæur (beautiful tourist attraction in daytime, lovely party in the stairs at nighttime) and also some nice bars around in the area.

I love this area of Paris, so that is a bonus staying here. Common areas were well used, so it's easy to meet people. rooms are typically Parisian small (ditto attached bathrooms) but nice all the same. It is on a side street, so a bit quieter than some other places. breakfast is nice, staff are friendly. Of the three hostels I've stayed in in Paris, this one ranks 2nd.

Pretty good hostel. It was by far the most expensive hostel we stayed at and it certainly wasn't the nicest, but it was a decent location and decent accommodation. The beds weren't that comfortable (but we were so tired we didn't really notice). We had a four bed room (with amazing room mates!) and an ensuite. Having the ensuite was awesome, a lot of hostels don't offer (or it's more expensive) but I think all their rooms come with it. The breakfast is pretty good, definitely enough food. The staff were nice and helpful, and the wine they sell at the desk is quite good. The wifi is so-so, you only get it in the reception area right by the desk, if you go further into the eating area it's pretty weak signal and dies a lot. Overall though, we had a great time at the hostel! The atmosphere was amazing and we met a bunch of different people. The price is the only downside for me, but I'm sure you'd be paying about that much anywhere in Paris (even more closer to downtown). The area wasn't my favorite, but it's a block up from the main street and a block down from Sacre-Coeur, so overall the location is pretty good. NO LOCKERS IN THE ROOMS. The only lockers are dowstairs and cost money and probably won't fit luggage, just a few valuables. Luckily we had great roomates so it wasn't an issue.

We stayed in March 2013 in a four bed dorm. It had a bathroom attached to our room, which was a big bonus. Included breakfast and a comfortable lounge on the first floor also impressed me. Located right in the middle of Montmartre, Le Village also offers a relatively central location. Overall, a good value hostel with all you can ask for at that price.
