“Great Place to Stay”

We had a great stay at Le Singulier. Rooms are clean with all the basics. A great area for a quiet stay in Paris. The best part of the hotel was the reception staff who were awesome and helpful.

An eight room hotel over three floors without elevator. Very friendly owners. Rooms are clean and rather elegant. Most of them face a little garden where one can have a drink if weather allows.
Most have a bathtub in the middle of the bed room. No curtain. Breakfast is a good continental fare. Several restaurants and bistros in the area. Three subway lines within 250 meters. A good place for a romantic stay.

We have enjoyed three nights at Le Singulier. This is our first stay in Paris and we thought the location was central and easy to find places.
The rooms are newly decorated, the motel has a very 'chic' feel. We stayed in the room named Earl Grey, it has a lovely little balcony with a view to the internal courtyard and a bath in the room. I think it's worth mentioning it doesn't have a shower, however we got used to a bath only. The room is tastefully decorated and very quiet. We missed not having the facility to make a hot drink, especially at the start of the day.
We had breakfast one morning which was fruit, pasteries, juice and a hot drink and seemed ok value for money. We also enjoyed a wine one evening in the courtyard which is worth the experience with the pigeons cooing and background music.
The family that run the motel are extremely helpful.

Room Tip: I would ask if you prefer a shower as some of the rooms have these instead of baths.

We loved Le Singulier as it was in the 16th (an area we hadn't stayed in before) which proved to be cool with plenty of good shops and bars etc. It was also silent at night so great sleep.

Reception staff were really lovely and fixed an issue we had right away. The room was large by Paris standards and toiletries were nice. We had a bath in our room which was romantic (though I think my fiance would have liiked a shower also).

One down side was the room was a little bare/minimalist (no bin, no glasses, no pictures etc).

A quirky place we'd stay at again

Room Tip: One that faces the back garden

Some of the reviews on here are very misinformed. Firstly, the hotel is only 3 floors high...not six. I stayed on the top floor and was pleasantly surprised after expecting to walk up six flights.

Secondly, it is very common in Europe for double beds to be two beds pushed together. That is not some quirk of this hotel, but simply how things are often done in Europe. You can't criticize this hotel for that.

Lastly, I found it very comfortable, extraordinarily well priced (especially given the location), and the staff was very friendly.

Maybe our expectations were low (given many of the reviews here), but we loved it and will happily stay there the next time we're in Paris. Perhaps the negative reviewers should spend some time at other Parisian hotels at this price...that might convince them that this place is more of a bargain than they realize!

You will either love or hate the Alma Mésnil. The hotel is in a great location (half way between the Eiffel Tower and the Arc de Triomphe). The triple room I stayed in was very spacious and clean with a street view and large full length opening windows. However, I did feel that the place could be doing with an update. The staff are very pleasant and willing to help. I think I would stay again because of its location, and because there are only a small number of rooms it had quite a nice atmosphere. I would recommend going to the Alma Mésnil with an open mind, knowing that you won't be staying in the Ritz, however it is somewhere to sleep that is clean and that's all you really need on a budget in Paris.

A poorly maintained hotel in a good location. The beds are hard and cheap. Our double bed was two singles pushed together. the second bed was a 4" thick mat on a poorly contructed pedestal. The other furniture in the room was old and shabby. The carpet was worn and dirty. It was almost like camping. The breakfast was overpriced and just plain bad.

A good point is that all but one of hte staff spoke fluent english. The one that didn't spoke english with a heave accent making it almost impossible to understand her. She did, however, speak fluent Italian with a barely detectable accent.

Overall it was adequate for the price and the location was outstanding. The cheap rate and the location didn't make up for the shabbiness of the hotel.
