Owner description: THATLou runs themed Treasure Hunts at the Louvre (what it stands for) & is part of THATMuse (other museums: Musee d’Orsay, British Museum & the Streets of Paris, THATRue). Our themed hunts give you an overview, whilst keeping you focused & injecting fun in your museum visit. Both educational & adrenalin-pumping, our goal is to make you want to see more of the museum after the hunt. No knowledge of art prior is necessary

This is a really cool tour for anyone, especially families. The Louvre is so overwhelming in scope, but ThatLou really narrows it down and makes it more manageable and fun and educational for all ages. Daisy is a Louvre expert and really knows all the tricks in terms of what to see, when and how to get in and out without fighting the insane crowds. It's a very personalized tour and Daisy really takes care of the people in her group and she loves the museum. Not your run-of-the-mill tour. Highly recommended!!!

We signed up for the Bastille Day hunt, which is nuts because it is one of the busiest days of the year, as entry is free and attendance is estimated to be 50% higher than normal. However, we thoroughly enjoyed our visit and THATLou experience, starting with the fact that Daisy directed us to enter via the Porte Des Lions entrance which had NO WAIT at 1 pm (the line to enter via the pyramid was one hour). The hunt itself led through uncrowded galleries, which made this experience that much more enjoyable. The hunt itself is smart, informative, and somewhat thrilling, as we competed against six other teams. What a terrific and creative way to experience the Louvre!

Had a wonderful experience discovering the Louvre with THATLou. The "treasure hunt" was a fantastic way to get the kids engaged in discovering the museum's treasures. Thanks Daisy - the girls are now looking forward to their next museum experience with THATLou.

This was a great way to explore the Louvre. We went to many sections of the museum that we otherwise might not have seen.

We were planning to do the "treasure hunt" with our 12 yr. old granddaughter, but she was unable to be with us, so we did it as a couple. Daisy met us as scheduled at 9:30 a.m. in early June and gave us and another family with two kids the clear instructions. We organized ourselves and then off we went. It was fun looking for the art works and we enjoyed the descriptions that were provided - they are interesting and fun for adults as well as kids. We were only about 1/2 done after 2 hrs. when we were supposed to meet the other family. They never showed up, however, so we weren't able to compare notes. It is a great concept, but I would suggest that if you are thinking of doing the "hunt" during June, July or Aug., try to do it in the evening. It was so unbelievably crowded when we were there that we couldn't move around very well, or even get near the art works to get a good look at them (or a photo!). Had the circumstances been different, I would have given it more "stars". Certainly not Daisy's fault, just something to consider when you pick your time to go.

Hi Anne,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review! I'm so glad you enjoyed my text attached to each piece of treasure (have really had a ball researching and writing them) and I'm pleased you support the overall concept of THATLou.

The theme you chose - understandably, since you'd originally thought your granddaughter would be joining - covered Louvre Icons such as the Mona Lisa + Venus de Milo, etc. There's really no time of year or day where the crowds are pleasant around such beauties.

However, I've designed several themes such as "All Things Gaul" (focusing on works by Frenchmen in celebration of French history and trivia), "Food + Wine" and "Angels + Wings" which are focused in low-traffic areas of the museum. The Louvre is odd, as there are plenty of (really wonderful) empty quarters where you can linger for an age without being aware of others - but if you're in the Mona Lisa room you'd never know that. The former director of the museum said that 80% of visitors go for the Mona Lisa alone, then leave (a crime!).

As for you and the other family not meeting after, you've raised a very important point which I hadn't considered (I don't know if this has happened before or not, as I don't meet families after a standard private hunt). From here on out I'll tell families who have opted for "friendly competition" (which is quite frequent) that they must exchange contact details, in case this happens. Thank you so much for this, you've improved my business model considerably with this point.

I hope the rest of your stay in Paris was good and thank you again for your feedback.
Kind regards,
