We stayed at this hotel from June 19 to June 30, 2013 (11 nights). During this time, my mother and I were both severely bitten by bed bugs, and developed huge rashes, which our doctors have confirmed were caused by bed bugs. The hotel cleanliness was far below expectations: dirty hallways, sheets were not changed daily, and several nights we had to sleep without pillow covers. One night we changed our own sheets and found gray specks on the mattress, which after consulting our doctors, were clear signs of bed bugs’ fecal matter. We asked the hotel receptionist to move us to a different room on our 2nd to last night. In the second room on the 3rd floor, one of the mattresses was encased in plastic. This is a procedure done to kill existing bed bugs in a mattress. This strongly suggests that Hipotel Voltaire had a prior knowledge of a present bed bug infestation at the hotel and has not acted properly to resolve the problem. The infected mattress should be thrown out, not encased in plastic for the new guests to sleep on. It is unfortunate that the hotel knew of the bed bug problem yet has not properly addressed it and continues to endanger the public. We received no cooperation from the hotel management. No one ever responded to our complaints nor made any effort to apologize. Stay away at all costs.
