Au Dernier Metro is a gem of place in an area not especially known for restaurants and nightlife.
Because of its popularity with tourists and locals alike, it often gets very busy. In good weather you may be seated on the terrace which seems to spread up the boulevard de Grenelle as far as the sweet wholesaler. They may even ask some good natured customers who are enjoying a drink, to move to the bar in order to allow you have a table where you can enjoy your meal.
You may order from a large choice of beers or wines by the glass to accompany your meal. I usually order the steack frites because it's so rare to find home made rather frozen chips. On a warmer day, I will order 'une planche', a wooden board with a large choice of dried hams, patés and cheese. The salads are very filling and not really the best choice if you are on a diet. I doubt that the duck and cheese that make its way into your salad so weight watchers beware.
The prices here are so good, that if you live in the area, there really is no better place to go.
