“Always a pleasure to stay here”
Reviewed 9 March 2014

I have stayed at the Bellechasse several times, and each time it is a pleasure. This time, I was here for 19 days (yes, that's a long time!).. The staff is always kind, considerate and anytime I've needed assistance, have stepped up to help. The location cannot be beat, just steps from the Musee D'Orsay and the Seine River, and a couple of short blocks from the Blvd Saint Germain de Pres. The rooms are comfortable and well appointed (however please remember this is Europe, rooms tend to be on the smaller side wherever you go) the breakfast is typical European continental but they do have an expanded selection including eggs (scrambled) and bacon too! But I prefer the morning bread selection, coffee and fresh squeezed orange juice.
I have used their laundry service, and so long as you turn in your laundry bag by 9:30am you'll get your clean clothes back by the early evening.
Anytime I visit Paris, I stay at the Bellechasse: I'll continue to do so in the future. Merci pour tout les gentillesse!
Side Note: Please, remember, wherever you visit, try to learn a bit of the native language - a little goes a long way and it's just plain respectful! :)

We wanted a small, quiet, interesting hotel, close to the centre of things, and we found what we needed at the Bellechasse. Compact but well-presented room, helpful & friendly staff, a short walk to the RER and Metro. Not the cheapest option, and the breakfast wouldn't be worth the €21 per person (ours was included in our TripAdvisor rate). But overall, a nice place to stay, and we'll be back.

Such a perfect location and such nice design throughout this establishment. The staff were all incredible. This is a perfect place to stay at while visiting Paris.

Go for a bigger room as some are smaller than comfort allows. Enjoy!

The vast majority of hotels in historic buildings in Paris are tiny, and/or with tiny rooms. This is bad practice that everyone follows, and hardly anyone has seen fit to refurbish these edifices in such a way as to allow for a more generous plan (obviously, the fewer the rooms the less the profit…) Having said that, some hotels do a good job of employing clever design to compensate for this lack of generosity, and the Bellechasse is one of them.

The rooms, quite small as they are, are on open-plan arrangement with the bathing areas, with only the toilet separate. This, with the absolutely riotous, fabulous, neo-Baroque decor (Christian Lacroix!) covering everything, gives the space a more exciting and generous feel than its actual proportions would allow. Still, I wonder why insisting on a massive bathtub in the smallest rooms, and not just going for a nice shower corner…. have seen this in many Parisian hotels (obsession with bathtubs!) and cannot say it is particularly clever.

Everything is of decent quality - eg. bed linen, mattress, etc - though not quite as high-end as the name Christian Lacroix would have you believe (I think he just decorated and left, with a different management now cutting the odd corner…) It would compensate for the size further if sheets, towels, toiletries, etc were properly luxurious rather than just OK.

Lobby space and breakfast area are really lovely, and so breakfast itself - simple but good quality.

And location is just fantastic: very beautiful, understated part of Paris at the western part of St Germain, literally two steps from the Musée d'Orsay and metro, a couple more steps to several lovely brasseries and restaurants (Cinq Mars highly recommended), and max 10 mins walk to the heart of St Germain.

Room Tip: Try to avoid the smallest room category, which makes life difficult for more than one person...

The hotel is located right beside the Muse D'Orsay and a very clean RER stop which makes it really convenient to access various parts of Paris. This is a cute boutique hotel in a quiet part of the town with, compared to other hotels in Saint Germain des Pres, limited access to late night bars and restaurants but can be accessed for a 15-20 minute walk. There are really cute art and home decor galleries in the area. The hotel lobby was very nice, and inviting. Our rooms were ready right away and got upgraded to a privilege room. As expected, the space was small but was very private. The staff was very accommodating and offered other rooms if that one wasn't to our liking but we decided to stay anyway. I wasn't fond of the carpet flooring and the design of the bathroom made for a very messy shower (with water on the floor after every shower). The breakfast was included and was very nice with a very nice lady looking after guests. I am giving this hotel a 3 star because of housekeeping. On our second day, the bed was made but pillows were left on the floor (remember it's carpet). The second day, we did not have refreshed toiletries and new/clean cups, and trash left on the table. By the end of the trip, the room was extremely dusty. The other reason was that our room did not have strong wifi signal and was advised that all rooms had the same problems (with wifi was strong in lobby). And a very small detail is that the hotel does not offer face towels. This hotel would get a 4 if housekeeping was improved. A 5 if they had done something special after advising them that we were celebrating our wedding anniversary + coffee/tea machines in rooms + hard wood floors.

Room Tip: All rooms are different, ask to see other rooms if they are available.

Stayed there in Jan14 for a couple of days. Rooms are pleasant with a quirky decor and decent size for Paris, staff is friendly and helpful. Location is perfect, too - close to shops and restaurants and if you're a walker, you can even walk to Champs Elysees from the hotel (about 20 min?).

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel le Bellechasse in December 2013 for a week and had a wonderful time.

The hotel is small but very clean and has a modern decor. We had a regular room that faced a courtyard. The hotel staff were very helpful and polite and assisted with dinner reservations when needed.

The room was small by American standards but was perfectly fine for the two of us. The bath/shower/sink were separated from the bedroom by a wall without a door, but it was separate enough. I particularly liked that the toilet was completely separate and had a door. The cleaning staff did an excellent job. Overall, the room felt new, clean and comfortable.

The location was excellent and we walked most places (even in the Winter) and took the Metro (easily accessible) a few times when needed. The neighborhood is quiet and upscale, with a number of nice restaurants, bars, and shops nearby. I had a drink in the hotel bar one night before dinner, but otherwise we did not eat or drink there.
