My friend and i stayed here for 3 nights in a 4 bed dorm with own shower. The hostel was cleaned daily and never seemed dirty at any times. Service was pretty standard. The location was swell. Right next to the metro and generally close to everything. Lots of opportunities to get a feel of the real and non touristic Paris. Cheap places to eat and shop around, we found lots of great second hand shops.
What really bothered me though, was the fact that there was no real common room, hence making socializing very difficult.
Stay here if you like the location and can speak spanish as everyone there did speak better spanish than english.

Bed bugs, bed bugs and one more time BED BUGS!! It was the worst hostel ever, never stay in there, it is really better to pay more, than being bitten by insects, rooms are small dirty, doggy, scuzzy and ugly. AVOID IT!

First off the hostel is in a very unsafe area with drug dealers outside the door and groups of suspicious men standing around watching you, it is very threatening!! To the point my friend and I moved to a hotel as we felt so unsafe!
Secondly, when we got to our room we were in a vey unstable triple bunk and we had no main light in the room just a light above the sink. We had a little friend in our room too! A little mouse!
On top of that it was really noisey!!! And there was only 2 toilets (one which had sick on the floor) and one unclean looking shower! We had heat in the room however it was a radiator that trickled all night.
All in all, it was horrific and unsafe.

absolutely terrible! Rooms are small, ugly and old but the worst part is the filthiness! It was incredibly dirty. The room, the bedsheets and the shower smelled awfully! It is in a rather dangerous neighborhood, beds ere very uncomfortable, the heating didn't work well and wi-fi didn't work at all. The only good part is that it was literally across the street from a metro station. DO NOT EVER STAY HERE!!!!

Room Tip: Do not stay here at all

I stayed in a dorm with 13 beds, the room was just like a garage. The room was dirty, and you probably won't like to see mice running around in the room. And the free wifi just provided in day time when everyone is out of the hostel and charge you when you are back in the hostel! That's not really "FREE". Think twice even 5 times before you decide to stay here.

Even though we (6 friends and I) paid few money for 3 nights at Friends Hostel I wouldn't recommend it to anybody! A list of things that was Bad about/faulty in our 9 persons room + the rest of the hostel:
- Only 1 lighting switch for 9 people (the 2nd one didn't work)
- Couldn't close the bathroom door and a piece of it was broken in the top ("fixed" by cardboard box)
- No curtain in the shower
- Very loud and noise from everywhere around the room
- A cold wind came in from the luggage room, where a sharp, cold and blue light also shone in, so the room was never dark when we were sleeping
- The light switches were placed were unfortunately
- There was a "hole" in one of the beds
- The 3-layered bunker beds were very shaky and moved just when someone took a breath
- No heat in the room
- People in the common yard were smoking weed
- The common kitchen was filthy
- No real breakfast in opposite to their description on their webpage
- WIERD people on the hostel walking in and out (you weren't sure if they even lived there)
- Only one key pr room - which meant you had to trust your roommates on not stealing or going through your things (and ours were really wierd)
- A smell of urin from the lower bunker bed
- Unfriendly and annoyed staff
- Ghetto area

In general I wouldn't recommend anybody staying here. The seven of us who stayed there have all tried living different (and not always luxurious places), but this was by far the worst place I've ever stayed at. Although the area (Montmartre) very close nearby is really nice, choose another hostel, appartment og hotel. More like "Friends Hostage" - we couldn't wait to get out of there from the first minute we saw it!!

Room Tip: Never choose 9-person rooms (I don't know how good in condition the others are)

I grew up in the South Central Los Angeles ghetto area with extensive history of gang violence where drive by shooting is just another ordinary day. There is about 300 shooting deaths per year.
Friends Hostel was dirty, some strange guys in the streets were selling dope which is normal but I have not heard any shootings. I have not seen anybody wounded or being killed in or around this Hostel. But for the prize of around 20USD it is a pretty good deal and you are in the center of Paris.
