“Fawlty Towers Service”
Reviewed 27 December 2013

This was in a great location in Latin Quarter - very charming area and near rail. Room was clean. Lift extremely small & staircase narrow - a little hazardous. One of the Receptionists was a female version of Basil from Fawlty Towers - a bit highly strung and short tempered. The other Receptionist made up for it & was extremely helpful and kind. All good though & would recommend as very convenient location.

Don't expect your plastic little kettles and tray of in edible biscuits, this is a hotel with a proper French vibe. Set in a surprisingly good location we were in a room not overlooking the main road. It is quaint but not modern. Personally I thought it was great. Shower was fine and toiletries provided and for the price what more can you ask for.

I stayed at the Hotel Eugenie as I had a work "soiree" at a nearby bar and was looking in this neighborhood, a few minutes' walk to Notre Dame. I was pleasantly surprised! Having stayed at a number of hotels in the area in the past, the Hotel Eugenie is a great find for the price. The rooms are simple, but clean, and the staff very friendly. Two improvements to be made are the quality of the beds and the breakfast, which, unfortunately, were very important in my short, 6-hour business stay at this hotel. I would recommend this hotel for budget travelers looking to be in the most central location in Paris.

The hotel is in a excellent location surrounded by many eateries. It's the area the uni students hang out. 4 minutes by foot to st Michael metro station and very close Norte Dame cathedral. The room was clean but the beds tended to get very hot from reflected body heat as they must be foam mattresses. Bathroom was good nice water pressure. Free wifi. Breaky no included and 10 euro is asked for breakfast at hotel but we didn't eat there as breakfasts around the hotel were around 8.50 euro. Reception mostly nice people- one lady a bit snappy and aggressive.

I arrived and my room wasn't ready yet, so they put me in a different one right away, which was very nice seeing as I was quite worn from a long train ride. The location doesn't get too much better than this; when you exit the front doors, you are in an alley with shops, stands, and restaurants. The Notre Dame is a 5-minute walk. I had a room facing the alleyway and it was never too loud for me to sleep. The room was cleaned daily and it was done very well. Though, the cleaner kept on coming in to clean every 5 minutes when I was trying to rest. This only happened on one day, though. The breakfast was a little limited for 10 Euro. I would come back here.

As a solo female traveller I could not have asked for anything better. I felt safe and the location was amazing. The staff were friendly and yes the room is average and basic but it did the job. I would definately stay there again. Do it you know you want to!!!

Room Tip: Very very basic. Nothing smart BUT had air con which was awesome!!

The hotel is in a very VERY touristy area thus the price they have the nerve to charge for that roach motel. It's dark, dingy, the rooms are so outdated - it's scary! The sheets were actually dirty and had hair all over it so when I called the front desk to complain they sent up a maid that started to pick the hairs out of the sheets as we are watching her horrified after which stating "there, it's clean". I asked her to change them nonetheless and the pillow cases with different stains on them. The front desk woman that looks like she hasn't combed her hair in a....ever cought a serious attitude with us when we were checking out the next day because we quickly booked a fabulous hotel in Marais for the same price. Let me just make it clear- I am not a prude, I travel A LOT, But I've seen hostels better. The only good thing was the area but its unfortunately too touristy for my taste and there are some negative effects that go along with this. Bottom line- don't stay in tourist trap areas such as St Michel, you're still going to walk lots and ride the subway so 10 min away from a tourist trap area will get you a better deal. Look into Marais- cool, trendy-loads of boutiques, galleries, bistros and cafes and restaurants with locals. Do Paris right!
