Turn left out of the tiny, cramped lobby and you're just a few minutes walk from Moulin Rouge and all of the sex shops you could want. Not quite the perfect vacation with a teenagers. Beautiful view of Sacred Couer from the balcony in the cramped, rundown room with the bathroom that leaked when our neighbors ran water. No towels, no sheets without paying extra. No laundry facility. Poor breakfast of cereal or croissants and coffee (no tea). No fruit. No cheese. No convenient refrigerator for my leftovers. While the French have a reputation for being rude, the staff surpassed that, offending each member of our party with newer lower standards of service. The boulevard outside the hostel stinks of urine, which given the number of sex shops in the area is not a surprise. The hostel is far from Charles deGaulle, but quite convenient to the Metro. The tiny rooms were quiet, if damp. The elevator was large enough for 1 person with a suitcase, otherwise you'll be lugging your things up a spiral staircase.

I stayed at this hotel over a long weekend with three friends. We were in town for an LCD Soundsystem concert and a few big nights out, so we really weren't too worried about star ratings. This is where I note that the Regent probably has more in common with a hostel than a hotel - large communal areas with refrigerators for backpackers to keep their food, etc.
The Regent is well situated on the main street leading through Montmartre, a short walk from the Sacre Coeur and 15-minute away from Gare du Nord train station. We booked a 4-bed room and actually ended up with 5: two bunks and a single. Bedding is given to us in a plastic bag: make your own.
There was plenty of space for our backpacks, but not much in the way of natural light (a good thing in our case). The bathroom was a bit run-down, but clean enough. Looking back at my review so far I can see I'm hardly pouring praise on the place. But I would stay here again as long as the people I'm traveling with are happy to ratchet down the expectations. This place is cheap and practical. Not romantic.

I would happily stay here again. The surrounding area was vibey and the Sacré-Cœur is beautiful and fun at night. The hotel was clean and as expected. It is close to many different forms of transport and is a very quick walk from the gard du noord train station. Our room's window looked into a court yard, which blocked in noise at night. If it is your first time in Paris you will enjoy this area and the morning vista from the Sacré-Cœur.

The location of this hotel was perfect, right in the middle of Montmarte with the metro close and Sacre Cour at your feet.

The room was ok, A bit old but it was clean and good value for money. Bathroom felt bigger than the room itself and the stonewall and big windows brought the room together.

I don't understand the complains about the staff, they were always nice and very helpfull. Unfourtenatly the breakfast were rely bad. The coffé was almost cold and there were not many selections.

But this isn't a four star hotel. It's just a good place to stay if you don't need all the extra. We had a wonderfull time in Paris, and in this hotel.

Positive:
The hotel is located near the beautiful Montmartre hill.
We stayed in a lovely double bed room with a very comfortable bed and pillows.
The room is very clean, with a small bathroom but very cosy. It was winter and the room is very warm.
There are all kinds of guest type in this hotel, from young backpackers to family.
The buffet breakfast was included to the room price 69euro/night/room(during christmas) and it was very good.
Negative:
The room is not sound proof
The toilet in the lobby can be dirty sometimes...
