“Love's inspiration”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Heard about this bridge and visited a few months ago. The volume of locks on the bridge is something you have to see. When you consider that love is the inspiration for each lock you may feel compelled to buy you own lock and add it to the bridge. My husband and I added a lock we purchased by someone selling them on the bridge. It's easy to get swept up in the romance of the idea.

“Lovely bridge spoilt by absurdity”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 July 2014

1. This bridge is in a lovely location and is just for pedestrians, which is nice.
2. The custom of "locking one's love" by weighing the bridge down in locks of various kinds is completely foreign to real Parisians.
3. There is nothing romantic (says this true romantic!) about tripping over people trying to get the perfect photo of this absurdity.

“The Real Bridge of Love”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

We tracked it down and put our lock on another lock as the bridge is full of locks, and you can't find a piece of the bridge to put one on! We through our key into the Seine river, but missed the shot!
Nice view of the back of Notre Dame from the bridge

“Don't forget your lock!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 July 2014

So before leaving for Paris, my friends told me about this bridge! Now... currently without a significant other, I wrote my initials with those of my best friends. A short walk from Notre Dame... and what a sight! You know right away when you see it. Hundreds of thousands of locks left by others in hope of "locking" their love forever :)

Totally free attraction! It's nice to spend some time just looking at all the locks and pondering about the people who put them there. If you're lucky, you can find a spot on the bridge itself to lock to.. most locks are on top of other locks.

P.S. the tradition is to throw away the keys in the river after to lock !

“The official lock bridge”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Please don't think that the bridge near the Louvre is the lock bridge... you need to visit Pont de l'Archeveche in the Latin Quarter near Notre Dame. It is amazing to see the number of locks that have been added over the years.. so romantic and amazing... There are some vendors near there that sell gold locks and some will offer you a sharpie to write on the lock. Just find a spot to attach and throw away the key!
