I am typing this from Paris, Fr. Almost the first thing we did was to get a Paris Visite pass for 4 days. This allowed my wife and I unlimited use of the Metro system and the bus system. It took us a little while nto figure out the transportation system and have used it almost every place e went in Paris. It is a money saver and well worth it. You can get it at most metro stations and although they seem to have trouble with their own language because they rarely understood when I spoke to them in their language, the train information people were helpful getting these tickets,
On the same topic of tickets, you should also get from the first museum you visit a pass called the museum pas for however number of days you will spend visiting museums. We took this pass for 4 days Again this is a money saver and also a great time saver.because In most places you have a special entrance portal which allows you to essentially skip to the front of the line. Most people cue up to first buy an entrance ticket when they arrive and that line can be enormously long. You already have a ticket and simply pass through.
A brief example to prove the point. Today we took the train, to the Arc De Triomphe. We arrived about !0:15AM The purchase ticket line was probably close to a 1/2 hour.long. We scooted right in and up we went to the top of thew arch. very few people were their either buying tickets or climbing 284 steps.
The point I am making is that anyone visiting Paris who does not take advantage of these time and money saving items are wasting large amounts of money. Also there are programs which you can find on-line offering all kinds of deals. Check with trip advisor reviews before you indulge. The vast majority of the times, you will do better doing what we did or following advice that others will give you through trip advisor.
Did we enjoy Paris--we sure did!
