“Impeccable service and friendly staff”
Reviewed 9 May 2014

I stayed here on business regularly for a few months in 2014. I was always impressed with the quality of the staff at this hotel. They will go out of your way to make your stay as comfortable as possible. Examples are giving me directions and recommendations for restaurants and museums, researching gyms and local dance centres, opening the restaurant after closing for a glass of wine, helping me to learn French, leaving hand-written notes in my room to welcome me back, rushing to get me my toast in the morning for breakfast and where possible giving me room upgrades as a regular visitor. Also as mentioned in other reviews the occasional free macarons are gorgeous.

The hotel is stylishly decorated and always clean. The hotel is located next to the Luxembourg metro station and the beautiful Jardin du Luxembourg.

Room Tip: Rooms are all well decorated and stylish. The smallest rooms don't allow much more than to move...

When trying to find a hotel in Paris, there's a lot to consider but of course value for money is a driving factor and that's what you get with this hotel .. clean, comfortable and made feel very much at home by the hotel staff. If I had a slight gripe it would be don't put an easy single slice of cheese on your bowl of nacho's it's not what you come to expect from Paris. I think there is little doubt that we'll be back .. good location, away from the madness of the tourists sites but within reasonable walking distance with loads of restaurants and bars in all directions within 15 mins walk or 5 mins taxi. Free Wifi a plus and for as many devices as you have so thank you! ... oh and I loved the macaroons on arrival .. didn't last too long after we dropped our bags on the floor. ... see you again soon hopefully.

Room Tip: The rooms in Paris or any major city on the continent don't tend to be very big so just accept t...

We stayed at the Observatoire for 6 nights last week, and found it to be a high-value, comfortable boutique-type property. Over 100 years old, the rooms and bathrooms are modern and comfortable and remarkably quiet given the location above busy St. Michelle. The location is perfect: Right across from the calm and beautiful Luxembourg Gardens, and within 15 minutes walk of the Seine / Notre Dame Cathedral, 30 minutes to the Louvre, Musee d' Orsay, and The cafe at the street level (Le Luco, I believe) had very good food, and the continental breakfast provided with the fare was incredible: Not only the expected lovely pastries, cheese, salami, yogurt, but also scrambled eggs, sausage and potatoes. Mustaffa at the front desk (and his colleagues) were friendly, professional and VERY helpful for this Parisian newbie. Top notch.

Room Tip: We were on level 4 (5 for us Americans), and a friend was on level 2. The operable windows kept the...

Dear drsmdixon,

Thank you for taking time to share with us your comments about your recent stay with us.

Your comments about our breakfast were highly appreciated. We try to provide our guests with the best products possible: fresh orange juice, fruits salad and handmade pastries. We were glad to read that you enjoyed the range of our offer.
As you did mention, Boulevard Saint Michel might be quite busy during day time: however, at night, the district is quiet. The proximity to the Latin district is convenient should you wish to spend an evening in a lively area. The Front Desk will be happy to offer you some suggestions about restaurants or bars.

We hope we’ll have the pleasure of welcoming you for your next stay in our capital and invite you to contact us directly to benefit from our best offers,

We stayed 3 nights and I really liked the location right beside a Metro station and within walking distance to. Noted Dame, the Seine and Quartier Latin. Also great that the Jardin de Luxembourg is right beside. I went for a run there two evenings and it was a great experience.
The rooms are small but I think that's normal for Paris. We had a room facing the backside and I was surprised how quiet it is there at night and in the morning. The room could need a little touch- up but it had everything you need. Very good free Internet. The restaurant beside the hotel has good value for money, there are also a lot of beautiful bistros close to the hotel. We choose the continental breakfast buffet and there was a lot of choice. I am vegan and they even organized soy milk for me in the morning. The reception staff is very friendly and very helpful. I definitely can recommend this hotel. For us this trip was like a second honeymoon. Sorry to the reception that I missed to give you back your pen this morning. Next time :-)

Dear Ellen M,

Thank you for taking time to share your impressions about your recent stay with us.

Your comments about our rooms and our restaurant were highly appreciated. As you said, the rooms on the garden side are a bit quieter. However, all our windows are soundproofed. We were glad to read that you found everything you needed in our rooms: kettle, tea and coffee sticks (you can get additional upon request), hairdryer, mini-bar. Upon request, we would be happy to provide you with an iron and an ironing board.
We always try our best to meet our guests’ expectations: if you advise us in advance, we can organize gluten-free bread or soy milk for breakfast. Do not hesitate to let us know prior to your arrival.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you soon again in our capital and invite you to contact us directly to benefit from our best offers,

Warm Regards,

Jessica

We stayed here for 3 nights during a chilly late September. The concierge who greeted us was lovely and very accommodating of my less-than-average French. Throughout our stay he helped us with tips to get by better than the average tourist.

Upon entering the room, we were pleasantly surprised by a cozy and welcoming room. The en suite room had all the amenities and a tray of macarons with a personalised welcome note.

The Metro was very close by so made day trips a breeze.

The room was clean, comfortable and quiet with a view of Boulevard Saint Michel. Next time we're back we'll be looking for a garden side room.

Room Tip: The rooms are on the smaller side so make sure that you're not travelling with a lot of suitcase...

We stayed here in April 2014 for 3 nights. The hotel is close to good small cafes and restaurants and only 15 min walk to Notre Dame area. There is a train station directly across the road which we used to go to Versailles.

Free wifi and tea and coffee making facilities.

We had a nice view of a property at the back of the hotel that has nice gardens.

Good breakfast. We found the elevator amusing as it will only fit 1 person with 1 large suitcase but as I said we had a laugh about this.

Dear Sportsnut65,

Thank you for sparing your time and share your comments about your recent experience with us.
We were glad to read that you had a nice stay with us and that you found our lift “amusing”. As you might have noticed, Parisian standards are “smallness” but “coziness”, which explains the size of our lift. Our staff would be happy to help you if you need help with your luggage.
It is indeed quite easy to get from the hotel to Versailles. The RER B will drive you in one stop to Saint Michel where you can catch the RER C to Versailles: the journey takes around 40 min.

We hope to have the pleasure of welcoming you for your next stay in our capital and we invite you to contact us directly to benefit from our best offers.

Warm Regards,

Jessica

We loved our stay at this hotel. Though it's not right in the more "happening" parts of Paris, it is a nice part of town and we loved being right next to the Luxembourg gardens (took a bottle of wine and some books and sat out with the locals on the weekend and ate breakfast there most days). Can't beat the proximity to the RER from CDG. It's only a 15 minute walk to the major sights, plenty of great restaurants and cafes nearby. We lucked out with a great room (#507) on the corner with two windows. Cozy, but expected for Paris. The staff was fantastic, helpful with restaurant reservations, answered all our questions with a great attitude. Loved our stay!

Room Tip: Try to request a high floor room on the corner.

We were delighted to read that you enjoyed our proximity to the Luxembourg Gardens. They are indeed a great place to have a picnic or just to chill out.
