The view is great, the burgers grilled, the beer cheap, or if you want it another way, sit outside and order brunch from a menu served to your table. Both are good options.
I suggest choosing an exhibition showing in one of several museums housed in this rehabilitated riverside warehouse, buying tickets in advance and visiting that first. 'Reward' yourself after by climbing the stairs to the rooftop for brunch. It's worth the trek - why can't the Velib people put in a station at Les Docks!!

We headed over to this space on a sunny Saturday afternoon in August. There weren't many people around the lower levels, although some shops were open (some selling young designers' pieces - clothes, jewelry etc). The big draw was the rooftop, its view over the Seine and the cocktail bars there.

Even with the perfect weather, we still found comfortable chairs easily and settled down for a few drinks.

Good place to get away from the feverish, bustling crowds. Expensive cocktails (12 to 15 EUR), quality was okay.

Getting here was a bit of a roundabout walk, since Gare d'Austerlitz was being renovated; the metro station there may not be your best bet for "Les Docks"

There are currently two exhibitions at Les Docks - Cité de la Mode et du Design One on Cristobal Balenciaga and the other on Rei Kawakubo. The Balenciaga exhibition features over 70 costumes, including haute couture coats and dresses designed by Balenciaga from 1937 to 1968, it's a beautiful show with many personal items that show Blancaiga's many influences. The other exhibit of Rei Kawakuba's latest Comme des Garcons S/S 2012 collection is wonderful in a very different way.

The Les Docks building itself is worth the visit.

Les Docks, Cité de la Mode et du Design, 34 Quai d’Austerlitz, Paris 75013 www.paris-docks-en-seine.fr
Les Docks is a new fashion and design center on the Quai d’Austerlitz, along the Seine and near the Gare d’Austerlitz. The banks of the Seine here are being renovated and should provide an additional park area.
On the street level are several home décor showrooms, a few cafés and a French fashion school, as well as two temporary exhibition spaces for the Musée Galliera, which is under renovation. I've heard that some big names in design are comingsoon. The Galliera, for me, was the main draw, but the nicest surprise was the roof, where there is a lounge and event space, interspersed with raised, curved, green roof sections.
On level two there is an exhibition space which may or may not be public at any given time. Lacoste was showing their next collection so it was busy. Anyone who smoked was on the roof.
This is a work in progress, and it will become more interesting as more spaces are occupied. The rooftop architecture by Jakob+McFarlane and a park at river level should draw people when complete.
