the place: a tiny outfit, can't be more than 30 seats. most guests sit at the bar but there are a few seats on the table too. the course: it's a set menu, varies from time to time. when i was there it started with a grilled eel sushi for opening, followed by the 'main course' of about a dozen skewers (and salad on the side), then easing down with cold soba and salad, and finishing with a number of small desserts. the food: truly a feast of flavor and texture, a melange of all things wonderful. the entire course is very thoughtful, unmistakably japanese (osaka?) but with a nod to french ingredients and seasonal sensibility. it's not cheap but oh so worth it. would come back next time i'm in paris.

I have to be honest, I'm not a big fan of Japanese food so I had low expectation coming to this place. But what a pleasant surprise it was. It's not a cheap place but you got what you paid for. I love everything about this place. The atmosphere, the people, and of course, the food. The place is quite small (you might want to make reservation) but that makes the place is special. You can have intimate conversation because it's not too noisy. The people really made an effort to serve the food and explain what the food is and which sauce you have to eat the food with. I'm not going to start telling you about the food because you just have to try it. Words will not do justice.

So, overall, yeah love the place and would come back next time I'm in Paris.

If you want to discover a new facette of the japanese cuisine in Paris, don't hesitate, run to Kushikatsu Bon, it's really "bon".
Kushikatsu (串カツ?), also known as kushiage (串揚げ?), is a Japanese-style of deep-fried kebab.
In Japanese, kushi (串?) refers to the skewers used while katsu means a deep-fried cutlet of meat (cf Wikipedia). It originates from a neighborhood of Osaka.
What is incredible is that despite being breaded and deep fried, everything is light and extremely moist and tasty and also when you start, you think you are going to end up hungry. Well,, surprise! at the end of the dinner you are quite full after having tasted a wide variety of recipes.
The setting is japanese clean and sober. You really feel you could be in Osaka.

We were looking for a good restaurant in the neighborhood and consulted TripAdvisor... We followed their advice and as usual this was a very good idea. We called the restaurant to make a reservation and had a hard time to tell our telephone number... Both in french and English... My japanese is not so good ;) We arrived before 9pm and we were the last ones! Sitting at the bar, we enjoyed watching the chef preparing the meal and we enjoyed every delicious bit of food that was offered to us. Staff was extremely friendly and serviced us well. This is a place to come back!

We celebrated our anniversary there and were blown away by the experience. From the reservation process to the greeting at the door, to the complementary champagne to acknowledge our special day, the amazing food and the heartfelt "Bon soir" at the end, it was just wonderful.

We love Japanese food but we've never experienced the Osaka way of cooking. What a revelation! Course after delectable course of great foods. Each course was lovingly presented and explained. The pace of the meal was great. We never felt rushed and in fact the 2.5 hours flew by. The cooking method managed to elevate the mundane to the sublime. Definitely a meal we will never forget.
