We stayed for 2 nights at this hotel on our way back from the south of France. Having stayed for 5 nights (on the same trip) in the Marais district in a spacious apartment as also the high tripadvisor ranking of this hotel probably raised our expectations of this hotel!
What truly adds value to this hotel is its staff and decor. The staff are very pleasing and go the extra mile to help. They kept our bag 5 days before our actual check in which allowed us to travel freely across the rest of the country. Upon check in the formalities were completed swiftly and we were escorted to our room and explained the functioning of various things in the room in great detail. A porter bringing our bags to the room was also a relief since we had been lugging them all this while :) the lift in the hotel was also helpful as we were on the 6th floor. No great views...you have the option of a hotel courtyard or the garden across the street.
The design/theme of the hotel is quite unique...it adds a very 'young' and welcoming vibe to the hotel. The decor is bright enough and yet not in your face. The other facilities of the hotel are also quite nice. The free mini bar in the room ( no alcohol), movie theatre in basement (not used), complimentary happy hour between 12 noon-5pm (juices, tea/coffee, sweet and savoury snacks, no alcohol and we found the timing a little strange) are all unheard of in a boutique hotel and hence add to picking this hotel. Some of these features are not advertised also!
What I did find disappointing was despite paying nearly 375 euros a night some of the basic things were missing. No room service...I can understand that a hotel may not have a 24x7 room service but the absence of one for such a high ranked hotel is surprising( Must add that the staff did help us order a pizza at midnight!). There were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room which is now nearly a global basic. We were told to use the lobby bar for tea whenever we want. The bartender though said the tea is chargeable till we protested and told her this can't be so considering there was no kettle in the room! The room rate did not include breakfast which was also a little surprising considering the rate we were paying.
All in all I would rate this hotel as a GOOD hotel but tripadvisor doesn't have that option. The location of the hotel is decent as it has two metro stops in walking distance (200m), however, the street does get a little lonely at night.
Not to sure if I return to paris I will try this hotel again! Kudos to the staff though :)
