“If you are not fussy...”

Nothing much I can say about the service. Unfriendly, no smile, and no 'merci' upon payment and departure. The location is good because it's very close to Notre Dame and The Panthéon. Plenty of cafés nearby, and there's a couple of Tibetan cuisine just opposite. I checked in quite late at night, close to 10pm. If you happen to check in at night too, don't be horrified when you see that the red colored spiral stairs are only very dimly lit, because there is a light switch on each floor. Turn it on as you ascended the stairs.

I was given a room on the 5th floor with a private bathroom. The common toilet is along the corridor. My room and the shower stall were surprisingly spacious and very clean. But walls were thin so it might be a problem to light sleepers. The bed is comfortable with clean sheets and pillows. The heater wasn't working very well, but it was late summer so it's fine. For £68 per night, I think I may stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on lower floors with private bathroom.

The location of this Hotel is excellent. The rooms are clean, simple and confortable.
The rooms 1 to 6 and 40 doesn't belong trully to the building, and if you want to go to bathroom you have to cross a private street... and the bathroom is at the reception!
They cashed in 2euros for each shower that i have taken!

The location of this hotel is excellent, as it is very close to Notre Dame, and it's pretty good value compared to a lot of hotels in the same area. However there were several negative points which prevents me giving this a higher rating:

There is a kitchen where you can cook/make your own meals so no breakfast is served, I wish I'd known this in advance or I could have bought food and cooked it for a lesser expense than eating out. The spiral staircase up to the rooms is extremely narrow and cramped, and quite difficult to make out in the dark (you have to go onto each floor to turn a light on rather than them having the corridor/stairwell lights on all the time). Walls between rooms are very thin, I could hear some people having a party in the room above me and people talking in the room next to me very clearly.

The last thing I'll mention is that they have a policy of always leaving your key at reception when you go out, and apparently having someone on reception if you are out late. I far prefer hotels where you always keep your key with you, as it prevents the following unpleasant situation that happened to me: I was out until 2am one night, I came back and rang the bell for half an hour with no sign of any staff to let me in. I then opened the shutters on the outside of the hotel windows and banged on the window with my shoe until the man who was passed out asleep inside woke up and came to let me in. Not fun when you're on your own outside in the cold and dark.

Paris was the first stop on our euro trip - great city but staying at this so called "hotel" put a damper on our trip.

Very dirty, not all rooms have showers, very expensive. Front staff wasn't the nicest.

Ok location but tough for me to recommend this place to anyone. Dark hallways - subpar accommodation.

We stayed at the Hotel du Commerce for 3 nights. The location is tops with a fromagerie and boulangerie right around the corner and a 10 min walk to Notre Dame.

The noise proofing could have been better but otherwise our room was simple but comfortable. The staff were helpful.

Great location few blocks from Notre Dame, Pantheon and St. Michel for shopping. Excellent location my daughter and I walked every where and the Metro exit/entrance is just a block away. Cyril was so fun, helpful and friendly his suggestions were great. We stayed in the hotel for 7 nights, they have wifi and we do have to share toilets but there nice and clean.

Realize it was some time ago.. Stayed on honeymoon 1989, but location can not be beat. Very romantic little place in heart of most lovely city. You will love it! Also, a ton of great restaurants and theater nearby.
