A charming hotel, very helpful staff, seem to speak a multitude of languages, comfortable rooms, some a little undersized, the big problem, if you are on the 'street' side is that the route 30 buses park otside all night with their engines running, it disturbs you from sleep and the diesel fumes are very bad!!

The Hotel is very close to Gare de l'Est and 5 minutes walk from Gar du Nord, which makes it a convenient base, however, as it is close to the stations, the area is a bit messy.
The Hotel is spotless, the staff very friendly. The rooms are very very small, and so is the bathroom, but this is what you will find in most Paris Hotels in the centre, unless you pay a fortune. We got a deal which included breakfast which was fine.

This hotel was a steal at 80£ a night with a great breakfast included. Our room was a good size and was spotless. The breakfast in the morning was great and included a variety of fresh yummy foods! Location was great for the train although the neighbourhood was a little undesirable. A good stay!

This is an excellent little hotel in a great location, especially if you can get a good deal on one of the hotel booking sites. It's literally across the street from Gare de l'Est station, and only about a 10-minute walk from Gare du Nord. There are tons of restaurants and small eateries in the vicinity, most of which specialize in some sort of ethnic food: kabobs, Chinese, Indian, etc. There is also a sizable grocery store (by French standards) literally right next door, and a burger joint next to that.

Several other reviewers have commented on the "sketchy" or "unsafe" neighborhood. I think that is baloney. It is a highly diverse, working-class neighborhood, the kind you would find in any major city where normal people live and work. It's not a high-end area or a tourist destination. But there's nothing sketchy about it, unless normal working-class neighborhoods with racial diversity scare you. It's also within very easy walking distance of the major sites of Paris. I walked to the Chocolate Museum, and then from there to the Louvre. No big deal. And of course the Metro is a 30-second walk.

A recent remodel was completed in early 2013. While the hallways were a bit garish, I found my room to be tastefully decorated (though not with the highest quality components). It's very well-equipped, with lots of well-placed electrical outlets, good lighting, a small fridge, coffee/tea service, and flat-screen TV. Yes it's small, but not tiny and certainly adequate.

The bed was wonderful! Mattress, linens, duvet and pillows were all very comfortable and clean. The desk staff were all very friendly, courteous and willing to answer questions and provide help. They all spoke excellent English and, unlike many Parisian establishments, did not act like they were bothered by my existence or lack of French. Beautiful sitting areas on the main floor, with free English-language newspapers, as well as free luggage storage are added pluses.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the interior or away from the main road.

I have just got back from a 2 night stay here. If you take into consideration how expensive everything in Paris is, and walk around and see some of the other hotels, this place is the best option. We went during a promotion so more than happy with the price. You are a 20 minute walk from the louvre, 1 second from a supermarket, 15 seconds from the metro. What the rooms lack in size they make up for in quality and comfort. The staff are very helpful and friendly and speak English if required!

The first thing we liked about this hotel was the value. After looking at different hotels and the prices, we decided that this was a good price even though it was a little far from the attractions.

The location was excellent, very close to the Eurostar/Chunnel train station (Gare du Nord)--in fact, we walked a few blocks with our luggage from Gare Nord to the hotel. The Metro station, Gare l'Est is visible diagonally across the street from the front steps of the hotel. So we were only 20 minutes away from most attractions. There is also a train to the Charles du Gaulle airport (we had too much luggage so we took a shared taxi). The neighborhood is mixed/ethnic. Never felt unsafe. There are many decent restaurants in the area--we loved L'Enfants Perdus. There is a laundrette a block west of the hotel which came in handy.

The hotel must have been recently remodelled and everything was sparkling clean! They offered us the breakfast buffet as a prepaid option for 10 Euros a person (usually 15 Euros a person). Although a little bit expensive than some of the surrounding restaurants, it was convenient and very good.

The room we stayed in was Room 105. It is small--not much space around the bed and it was tight. It was fine with us, we didn't come to Paris to hang out in our hotel room. But the room was spotless, The AC worked well, the bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The shower was great with good quality soap and plenty of hot, hot water. The room must have been recently remodeled, because it looked brand new.

The only thing I didn't like is the unwieldy name (especially since my French is extremely weak). (I didn't even attempt to pronounce the name of the street we were on).

The more we walked around Paris and saw other hotels, the more pleased we were with our choice. An excellent value and highly recommended. We would stay there again.

Room Tip: Room 105 had an inward facing window--no view, but it was quiet.

Not bad value for money all in all. It was easy to get around as there was a metro right on the corner. Plenty of nice, affordable restaurants in the area. Staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were small even for a Privilege room, but it is Paris I guess. Still very comfortable and had good amenities. Nice bathrooms, and small balconies were a pleasant touch. Wifi was terrible. Never had a good connection, and always disconnected on its own. Had to register again and again every time I even locked my phone/iPad. Very frustrating. But otherwise it was a good place to stay if you don't want to splurge money yet still be in a clean and comfortable hotel.
