The hotel is on a side street a couple of hundred yards from the Moulin Rouge. In 20 minutes down the hill you can be at the Opera; 20 minutes the other way gets you to Montmartre. There are two subway stops within walking distance, and the only thing that I don't like about the hotel is that it's not easy to get there from the airport. You can take an airport bus to/from the Opera, but learn before hand how to walk to the hotel. It was much easier than navigating the trains with luggage. In retrospect I should have taken the train to a main station and then taken a cab.
My room was on the 2nd floor facing the street. It was small and the bathroom could have been cleaner; but it's an old Paris hotel. It isn't the Ritz or the Hilton or a luxury hotel. The breakfast was good, and I found the staff very friendly and helpful. Like anywhere in the world, if you try to speak French you get a smile and a willingness to help. They gave me tourist maps, pointed me in the direction of wherever I wanted to go, and were great. Just down the street is a nice rustic bakery. There are restaurants in the neighborhood. Really, I can't ask for more in an inexpensive Parisian hotel.
