Great hostel! We had a huge room with windows that opened to the street below. The location was excellent, prices reasonable, room and bathroom were clean. Breakfast in the morning was delicious. There's a bar downstairs. free internet access on a computer downstairs, and wireless access that reached up to the 4th floor where we stayed. The staff was friendly and spoke English very well. The steps going up to our room were kind of killer, but after staying at two other multi-floor hostels on our trip - we could have carried a smart car up without any help. I highly recommend this place!

The hotel was not particularly clean nor hospitable - when we first arrived the staff was rude and vulgar. Our room was spacious; it fit 4 people comfortably. We described the mismatched blankets and bright pink walls as sleeping in grandma's attic. The bathroom is ensuite, but a full bath without shower curtains. There were NO WORKING LOCKS on the doors - they give you a key but it doesn't lock the doors. Their breakfasts are a joke - walk to the corner boulangerie instead.

Compared to the other hotels I've stayed at in Paris and other parts of Europe, this hotel was extremely generous and helpful.

Everyone spoke English, we received several free drinks after making friendly conversation at the bar one night, they let us use the phone to call home in the U.S., and they served us breakfast almost two hours after the time that it was supposed to be served.

However, the part of town that it was in was a tad too noisy for my liking, and I had trouble sleeping one morning due to bratty children running amuck in an apartment across the street.

Overall, it was still worth the amount of money I saved.

The front-staff people (English tall albino-looking dude and English pot -bellied medium height Black dude) were incredibly rude, ruder than I've ever seen in two decades of international travel..

Which speaks volumes for management which permits this..

Dealing with these people, even the most patient person might lose his cool, in which case the cost of a run-in with French law could probably buy you a week at the Ritz..

The rest as per the other reviews: 1)brilliant idea of having a bar downstairs open until 2 in the morning, 2) sketchy part of town compared to even two blocks away 3) a lot of noise from the street...

A much better deal and experience can be had at comparatively priced hotels such as hotel St. Sebastien a few blocks away..

Also be wary of scams where u book a different hotel through the hostel booking servicea such as ----------- and they tell you " oh your original choice is booked but we have booked the wonderful Basfroi hotel for you.."

Where should I start the Guy who checked us in was in English so no language barriers. free internet good advice for resturants try a resturant called le Charbon you will not be disappionted. This place is the same price as a hostel But you have a bathroom and TV if you speak french. The bar opens till 2.00am relly good music and they will let you choose what you listen too if you ask politely.
We got the shuttle to the Airport which was only 40 euros for 4 people .
This price cannot be beat and the driver helped us with the bags and made the effort to speak english.
I totally endorse this hotel the person who gave the bad revue is talking rubbish. Just try it.

Staff are really friendly and its got a wee bit of charm, but that's the only good thing I can say about this hotel. The walls are incredibly thin, people were screaming in the hallway until 2 in the morning. The first morning there was no hot water. The towels were discoloured. No mirrors. TV wasn't working properly. The wires were sticking out of the phone reciever.
We asked one of the staff to book us a airport shuttle (offered on their website) before leaving for the day. We returned 10 hours later to find that the shuttle had not yet been booked because he had forgotten which airport we were going to. When the shuttle arrived (their "friend"), it was full. We had to sit squished in the front seat (2 of us), sitting on a suitcase.
Don't stay here. Spend some more money and get a good night's sleep and a hot shower.
