this was my 4th visit in paris and this is probably the best hotel i stayed in, the best value. the hotel is situated on blv. de picpus just 50m from the picpus metro station and 200 from nation metro station which is on the line 1, you will probably use it more often to get to most of paris attractions. if you fly with a low cost on beauvais airport the metro from port maillot takes you straight to nation.
you can get also get the metro from picpus to nation if you don't want walk the distance although is not much and this is zone of paris is very safe, i walked this streets also in the night and it was ok. so if you return from the city during night it's ok to walk from place de la nation to the hotel.
from picpus station you can easily go on the left bank of sena, to place d'italie where you can change for line 7 for rue mouffetard - pantheon etc. also just in front of the hotel is a bus station, bus no 56 which takes you to place de la republique.
so as you can see the hotel is well bounded with the city but if this is your first time in paris i think you should look for a hotel situated more in the centre of paris, if you are not familiarized with the transport in paris and if you dont want to lose a lot of time in the metro.
about the room, i had a single room, small but ok with a bathroom that was also tiny. very clean with a very comfortable and big enough bed. there is no AC in the room, at least not in my room, but i didn't see any AC device on the building, the wi-fi signal was fair i didn't use it much. there is also a tv but with only 15 programs all in french. the hotel has a small elevator that goes up to the 6th floor, the hotel has 7 floors so for the last one you have to walk the stairs. the very very big minus is that you can hear absolutely everything is going on in the rooms next to you. unfortunately on 2 nights my neighbours from one room were very blatant until almost 1 AM. so take some earplugs, even if you are not used with them take a pair.
if you want you can serve breakfast for 8 euro, i didn't because on the way to place de la nation there is a nice boulangerie (picpus bakery) and you can buy from there something for the morning.
i didn't interact much with the staff only when i left and took the card for the door, i once asked something about the metro and the man from the desk didn't seem to have any ideea, whatever.
prices for the rooms from what i've seen are very good, you pay the same but for low quality in most of other paris hotels, so for a 2 star this is good option.
