In a small close behind the Hotel Louvre des Bon Enfants, the Bistrot Valois offers outstanding cuisine and engaging, charming service. We came a bit early for dinner and good thing, because the place filled quickly. Nonetheless, there was no decline in the staff's attention. A varied menu, much more diverse than one would expect in so small a place and a very nice wine and liquor list though the staff seemed a bit amazed at us taking our pre-meal Glen Moray scotch neat.

If I am ever again in Paris (and I hope to be) I will definitely return to Bistrot Valois.

This is not a fish restaurant but a chinese style tuna was a special that did not agree with my wife at all. A pate would have worked better with mustard. A goat cheese salad was excellent - certainly a generous appetizer. A duck confit had deliciously crisp skin but was a tad salty and dry for my taste. Servers were friendly. We had chosen this bistro after a good mention in the NY Times but found it not really worth a detour.

Because we came in without reservations, we had to settle for what was available, but the owners went out their way to make us comfortable, adjusting umbrellas and providing extra chair for the ladies' bags and jackets. Food was great. My fish exceptional. Service was efficient; good value. We will be back there when we return to Paris.

This little restaurant is situated just behind the Hotel Louvre des Bons Enfants. You are not likely to stumble upon this restaurant unless you know it is there but certainly gave us one of the best meals we had in Paris, a hidden gem.

My advice is to arrive early for lunch as the restaurant is small with only about ten tables outside
and by about 1pm was packed and guest had to be turned away. Inside is also quite small but the tables were also full by just after 1pm with a combination of locals, corporate and tourists.

Having said that the restaurant do everything to accommodate guests without making it to crowded.

Not sure about dinner but imagine it will be just as busy.

Service is excellent and menu items discussed with a passion and a real pride in what they offer.

My son had the Confit de Canard which was superb and a good sized portion as well, we had the piece de boucher which was excellent followed by a great selection of puddings.

Good wine selection at a reasonable price considering you are only 5mn from Le Louvre.

When I come back to Paris I will definitely eat at Bistrot Valois even if I am staying at the other side of Paris.

quiet street near the center of the city. short walk from du Louvre. friendly staff took their time to explain each item on the menu. The food was great, had the day special (bruised lamb) which was wonderfully cooked. if you are more adventurous try to AAAAA sausage which is made from pig intestine & spiced with pepper. Dessert, topped it off with Baba au rhum which is like a sponge cake with whipped cream and rum. Total bill for 2 including wine came to 50 euro. Not bad for its location, food & environment.
