Bel Air is a decently priced no-frills option whose chief saving grace is that it lies in a quiet, pleasant street just off the Nation metro in a safe, upmarket-looking part of Paris. In spite of the extreme winter cold our double room was piping hot - great - as was the new, large, clean bathroom, which came with proper bath as well as shower. There are no common areas in this hotel apart from the tiny breakfast area, so this hotel is for sleeping only, which may be a problem if you are a light sleeper; the walls seem paper thin. But if you don't have rackety neighbours, you should be in for a comfortable stay. And the brasserie round the corner beside the supermarket opposite the Metro is excellent. Espressos for one euro!

Room Tip: the street is so quiet i don't think it will make much difference being front or back

The hotel was good value for money being in Paris. It is located close to the Nation Metro station which I found a good location with good lines connecting through there. The neighbourhood was also slightly away from the crazy hustle and bustle of the major tourist sights and still had a great supermarket, bakery, liquor store, pharmacy and ATM's. Also a laundromat around the corner. The staff were also welcoming, helpful and friendly.

the location is great. so close to the metro and markets, shops, and cafes. room is small and thorned out but bathroom is new and spacious. theres no wi fi connection wich is unacceptable these days.

If you look in advance theres better hotels in the aera. but this hotel is good for last minute deals and young travelers on a budget.

I had a terrible experience statying at Hotel Royal Bel Air. We had booked for 3 nights..When we went to the hotel its smelly and not clean..The lady at the reception spoke no english and was very rude..After looking at the room it very small, furniture was crapy, bathroom too small with greenish mould around the bath tub...The bed covers were dirty...The room was so claustrophobic that we could even breath even though it was a double room..

We decided to cancel the room immediately as we could have survived even a single night..The lady at receptionist was too busy with the phones call and she was not bothered to talk to us...

She also charged our credit card straightaway , as most of the hotels only charge before leaving..We asked her to refund our money for the next nights , but she was not ready to do this and pretended she cant speak english..After much convincing she said she will refund our money for the next two nights and charge only for 1 night..But when i checked my credit card bill she charged for 2 nights and only refunded for 1 night...

Please dont even go near this hotel ...There are lot of good hotels with better rooms for the same price you pay for this hotel..

The hotel is great for access to anywhere in Paris but even for the cheap price it is below par. The rooms are in need of an upgrade and the bedcloths have seen better days.
Do not even think of paying them for breakfast it and the service are terrible.
The restaurant next door is one of the best restaurants I have eaten in and at half the cost of the next best.

Hotel in a quiet side street off the Nation Place (which is one of the quietest squares in Paris although it does have its share of restaurants and bars). Hotel very close to metro, buses, Gare de Lyon, the Bastille, the Promenade Plantee (unusual elevated walkway with different perspective on Paris). Loads of very lively nightlife a walk away (just head in the direction of the Bastille) with music bars and good restaurants. Hotel clean and the people nice and welcoming. Room slightly larger than a normal Paris budget room and although fairly basic, it was perfectly fine for a short stay. Not an obvious tourist area (a plus) but near enough to everything that you'd want to see.
