On business trip, I stayed at this hotel.

The good:
Free WiFi, even in the room (5th floor). quiet place, even though very close to Montparnasse

The not so good.
very poor breakfast. The croissants and pains au chocolat are rather bland. No sausages, just to poor scrambled eggs, questionable bacon and hashbrowns. Bread is ok though (brown rolls and baguette). You also can get some cereals (1 type), yoghurt, juice, italian salami or ham, emental. That's it.
The room itself lacks power sockets (not even a free socket at the desk, I had to disconnect the TV) and none beside the bed either to my phone which was also my alarm was rather far. No snoozing (I know...)

And not sure whether it's a good or bad thing, but the toilets are not in the bathroom, they're in a separate "room".

Room Tip: get your free WiFi sheet with the access codes as you check in at reception. Valid for 2 days for 1...

This was our second stay at this hotel. The first was five years ago, when the kids were small enough to fit into one of the hotel's family bunk bed rooms (great value). This time around we had to book two roooms for the four of us. As before, we found the staff very friendly. The decor was dated but the beds were comfy and the rooms clean. It is a great quiet and central location, close to buses and two metro lines, and five minutes walk from Gare Montparnasse. We recommend it to families visiting Paris.

Stayed here for three nights and thought it was great. It is very quiet, being off a courtyard. The rooms are fairly standard but clean and warm and quite roomy for Paris. The location is perfect - near Metro stations and lots of restaurants and bars - more creperies in one street than I'd thought possible!! The staff were very helpful - we had a slight problem with a plug and it was sorted out straight away. Our room was a family room (although we're only two) but I would definitely book my family in here. The only down side was that we visited at the wrong time of year to sit on the patio outside!

I stayed here for a conference so I can't comment on the value for money as I wasn't paying. This is a fairly bland but comfortable hotel in a good location. The room was a good size and the bathroom was fine. Comfortable bed and plenty of hot water.

The dining room was bland and subterranean but the breakfast buffet was OK. With so many local restaurants including some great creperies you wouldn't really choose to spend an evening there.

It is very well located for Metro with a station at each end of the street - Vavin has a direct link to Gare du Nord.

We stayed here for three nights during the last continent stop of our month long tour before taking the train to London. Location played a big role in our enjoyment of the city as the hotel was close to good restaurants, shops and the Metro. We could get to the other side of the city in less than half an hour from the hotel by walking a half block to the stations. We had a car which we rarely used too. I would stay here again on our next visit.

We had to book a hotel while already in Paris (thanks to the apartment we had booked being a big disappointment) and this hotel was on our street. It also got decent TA reviews.

The moment we turned off the street we felt we'd made the right decision. The courtyard at the front was calm and tidy and the building was clean.

Reception is clean & fairly modern, and the staff are helpful if not particularly friendly. Our rooms weren't ready when we went to check in so we left our bags in the bagagerie (I has no idea that was a real word). When we went back our rooms were ready and we were pleasantly surprised with how up to date they were. They're nothing too special, and for the money you'd expect more in most other cities, but in Paris this was quite good value.

The rooms are every quiet with the only noise we heard on the 1st floor being the rain hitting the metal shelves on the outside walls.

Wifi is free and reasonably fast but does need renewing every 48 hours.

Room service was a bit hit or miss and the staff weren't exactly helpful, though not exactly rude either. It's just that a) explaining uncleaned rooms by telling customers that the Do Not Disturb/Please Clean The Room card actually said Do Not Disturb/Please DO NOT Clean The Room, b) saying there were no spare pillows available because the hotel was full, or c) insisting that the door keycard was working despite it clearly not working - every day - shouldn't count as customer service in any city.

However, we spent little time interacting with the staff and the room wasn't dirty so these things didn't really matter to us on this occasion. It's clean, modern and the location is brilliant.

I have to qualify this review by saying it is in relation to other Paris Hotels.

For the price relative to other hotels in Paris you get:

A a basic but clean and decent sized room
Good food at any time of day
No subway noise
No noise from the surrounding neighborhood
A nice place to site away from the busy street in the hotel cort-yard
Fantastic distance to sites, shops and restaurants

I rate the hotel 5 as its price and the fact it is in Paris make it better than it would be in another city. Would have rated 4 anywhere else, but decent hotels are few and far between at this price point.
