“Quirky clean budget accomodation”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014 via mobile

Stayed here due to hotel Cambrai being double booked, placed is older style but with widows that open, very dated and in need of few repairs and upgrades, overall clean and comfortable, breakfast very basic but like the hotel good value, great location and close knit staff all lovely and helpful, wifi service good, only one PowerPoint in room which was good as my son had a iPad detox for couple days, would recommend for those on a budget and in need of a shower and bed for the night to take in the city.

Staying at this hotel with my college i found that we did not have a good time.
Breakfast was standard nothing special with everyone in a small cramped room.
The rooms are of a decent size most of them were rather small however with had the luxury (if you can say that ) of staying in a decent sized room. With only 2 plug sockets and 3 people in the room it was a challenge to charge electrical for the next day. The room cleaned to an averadge standard however there was mold growing all around the shower which wasn't very nice and you were also knocking you knees on the bathroom door if you wished to use the toilet however the most disappointing part of our stay was that from my group of peers there was a total of €85 taken from more than 3 different bedroom. and from my room money was taken more than once from inside a suitcase.
There was also no air-conditioning in the rooms so it got a little hot so leaving the window open was a necessity until phone-calls woke us in our sleep telling us off and telling us to close the window.

I stayed at the Sibour while travelling alone and wanting to spend a couple of days extra after a work trip to Paris. A colleague of mine who is from France recommended it for its low cost (80 euros a night when I stayed) and great location. Though I had booked for only myself in advance, they gave me the large room at the end of the hall on the second floor and I was quite happy with how spacious it was.

The building and finishing is a little old and you won't find the furnishing to be very up to date or aesthetically done (at least I didn't, see photos). You may find cracks in the floor planks. Regarding cleanliness (which I am usually a big stickler for): the rooms may not give you a squeaky clean feel. The room itself doesn't have a safety deposit box, but if you want to give a package for safekeeping, the front desk downstairs can keep it in his safety box and I found it to be quite a safe arrangement, as I left quite a bit of cash in there and it was all intact.

I didn't get a chance to sample the breakfast so can't comment on that.

The wifi signals were a little sketchy, possibly owing to my room being the last one down the hall. Perhaps other rooms were better in terms of catching a wifi signal.

If this doesn't bother you too much (I usually care A LOT about cleanliness, but I found I could live with this), this would be a great choice to stay due to its very very prime location. Located in a little alley just in front of Gare de l'Est it is perfect for getting out and getting to the train station to go anywhere via the train system.

The train system is pretty easy to navigate and economical once you get the hang of it and I made full use of it to get to different locations like the Charles river area, the Montmarte area and others.

Room Tip: If you want internet, do not book the family room at the end of the hall on the upper floors, and if...

Sibour is quirky, right down to the elevator, whose doors snap at you after you get in. The owner is clearly used to foreigners (ie people who know next to nothing about being in Paris, or France generally), and has an amused look on his face most of the time. The rooms are clean, the bed comfortable if a lttle firm (which is hotel beds in general so no great difference there). Furnishings are old school, and each room has a different clour scheme. No air conditioning, so sleep with the windows and shutters open and put up with the street noise if you can. very close to Gare de L'est, so metro and connections to other rail very easy. Shops around the area are useful. You can pay more, and you could get more, but we found the hotel very suitable for what we were doing, which was essentially to get out and explore Paris.

The hotel was good at Breakfast with lovely crisp Baguette and tasty Croissants however, the dining room was a bit on the small side. As was the bathroom. The bedroom was ok, however it smelt of smoke and underneath my bed was broken plaster and an all manner of other things! There was a little courtyard by the window and all of the noise from other rooms was amplified, consequently I had a bad night sleep. The one plus was that we could recieve Wi-Fi in the reception and the hotel was central. It was near a few train stations and it was also very cheap!

I have stayed here a number of times on my trips to Paris! Clean, friendly, cheaply-priced and close to numerous bars, restaurants and transport, with a major bus terminal at the end of the street, and the Gare de l'Est around the corner with the metro. A great base for sightseeing the city of lights. It offers all the basics bed and ensuite bathroom, which is all I want. Breakfast is available if you want it for an reasonable extra charge.

Just a stone throw away from Gare de l'Est and it is situated at a quiet side street. Very clean and safe double room. Room service everyday and the hotel staff is friendly. Not to mention the free wifi. Trust me it is hard to find a cheap, safe and clean budget hotel in Paris. This is a hidden gem. I stayed there twice in May and July 2011.
