We booked this hotel because of previous reviews about how close it was to the Metro & centrally located. While that's somewhat true, it's no where near the famous landmarks that 1st & 2nd time Paris tourists would want to see. The Majority of Paris landmark/attractions (Eiffel Tower, the Arch, Palace, most museums) are located a minimum of 20-25 minutes by Metro (subway) & for 1st timers, the subway can be very daunting. Parisians aren't know for their willingness to lend a helping hand to a tourist in need of directions!
We got a room facing the front of the hotel. The bathroom was tiny! When I sat down on the toilet, I have to dodge the sink because if I don't my face would hit the sink. Oh the description it said A/C but I guess their version of A/C is a little fan. This hotel is not at all updated, so it has that old wood smell. Everything is very dated, not much in renovation. The elevator is tiny, 2 person at best. Remember to open the elevator door, it does not open automatically. This hotel does NOT allow food/eating in their rooms so be warned. Also you must leave your keys at the front desk when you go out of the room (weird) because they "are not responsible for lost items". How are you going to take my room keys & tell me that you are NOT responsible for lost items?!
During our short stay we experienced 2 clerks. The 1st a younger male, not very helpful, short responses & quite standoff ish. The 2nd an older lady, very nice & helpful. She gave us great directions & subway info. In our experience, there are other hotels much closer to major attractions for the same price. We would not come back here.
