“Good Price to Quality Ratio”
Reviewed 31 May 2014

We had an offer through the website of the SNCF that was combining the train + the hotel and it was very interesting.
The Room was very clean, well organized and confortable.
However, the sound isolation was terrible, and we woke up several times during the night because of the noise. Because the hotel is in restoration, it is very likely that problem won't happen later on.

To conclude, we would recommend this hotel for a short stay in Paris.

I had booked trough booking . com, and thus got a good rate (I paid 69 € for a comfort room) and was very pleasantly surprised. Upon arrival I got a free room upgrade to a comfort+ room and I simply must say: it was a spacious, modern (recently renovated), quiet and clean room with tea, coffee and water for free in the room + free wifi.. For the price I paid, it was much more than I was expecting.
Yes, there currently are renovation works going on, but I do not understand that people can complain about that. Who can be against an owner renovating and upfrading the hotel?!?
One very big negative comment: they have tried to charge me more then agreed (165 € instead of 69 €). Check your bill properly before paying or you will be cheated out of your money.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is renovated and not facing the street

Awful. We spent 6 days there and was a totally nightmare. We do reservations a few months ago and they didn`t tell usthat the hotel is under construction (renovating the breakfast room and lobby). The bedroom was really tiny, they give just the minimum number of towels and the bed linen have a strange smell. The lift is not working all the time. The final straw was that we don`t have hot water for at least 1 day because of constructions. INCREDIBLE.

Dear Ezequiel B,

Thank you for your post on Tripadvisor.

We have taken account of your comment about the construction issue.

We apologize for the inconvenience incurred during the renovation work of the hotel. Actually, we warned the customer on the booking websites and the official one that the hotel is under renovation.

In order to satisfy you, our staff members had been at your service and gave you the best solution at that moment. Our receptionists are there to provide the best help to our customer and they are always looking to satisfy our clients.

The end of the renovation is scheduled approximatively on the 20th of May, 2014 and the water is working now.

We will be very happy to welcome you again in our future renovated establishment. You will have the pleasure to discover our rooms renewed in a modern style.

Yours sincerely,

This hotel is situated just two Metro stops from Gare du Nord. So ideally for those of us who arrive on Eurostar.
Yes the room was small, but perfectly adequate for me as a lone person, although probably a little cramped if two people were to use the same room. I would imagine that there are larger spaces which would be more suitable for a shared room.
This hotel is ideally located for the many restaurants and bars in the canal district, which was a pleasant place to be on a warm spring evening.
The bed was extremely comfortable. I did not however enjoy a great night's sleep. That is because the traffic noise from the intersection outside of the hotel is continuous. Not an uncommon experience in capital cities, so that isn't necessarily a negative for this particular hotel.
All in all, given the central location and the competitive pricing of this hotel, I would recommend it to anybody travelling on a budget... there are far worse hotels which cost a great deal more in the city.

Dear Andy W,

Thank you for your post on Tripadvisor.
We love to hear how much you enjoyed your stay and the surroundings of the hotel.

Our hotel is located in the heart of Paris, we're sorry that it did not meet your requirements in terms of peace. In order to satisfy our customers up to our rooms have double glazing and are newly renovated.
We paid particular attention to the sound insulation (double glazing, seal, etc.). However, we are aware that for those very sensitive to noise, some nights might be a nuisance.

It will be a pleasure to welcome you again at the hotel Libertel Canal Saint Martin for your next trip in Paris.

The small but ever so comfortable room was a great place to come to after long meetings in the city, its so ideally situated in a very clean and peaceful locality.
Despite the fact that during my stay there were renovations being carried out, the staff made certain that none of the guest were disturbed

We booked the Hotel for a 2 night break to Paris and found it to be just what we expected it to be for a budget Hotel. The room was clean and tidy but small. It was fine for us as we intended spending our time exploring the sights and really only spending a small amount of time in the room. If you intend spending long periods of time in the hotel then this is not the place for you. It has no recreational facilities, bar/restaurant etc. just a small dining area for breakfast only. The only downsides it had for us was that the rooms to the front are subject to a high noise level as it is on a busy road and we found the reception staff relatively unhelpful. The area around the Hotel was pleasant and it is well catered for with regards to transport. All in all a good budget Hotel

Room Tip: Do not take rooms above reception area and to the front as they are on busy main road.

This is the hotel we have chosen looking for a budget one. Paris is very expensive in hotel fees, but this made us chose it for its location and offers. The bedroom, as usual in a touristic city is tiny, and I mean it, very, very tiny. We were in four persons traveling together and one couple did not have even space in the bedroom to open the baggages comfortably. One had to leave the bedroom I order to allow the other to check the items that was bought that day. There's no complimentary breakfast and it costed a lot: 10 euros per person. Nevertheless it was a good one with lots of French cheeses and breads. The bed was comfortable, but the hotel needs some renovations urgently. Try the bedroom din block 02 to avoid street noises. The surroundings are very pleasant with lots of snack bars and shops of all kind and it is closer to Charles de Gaulle airport, making cab fee cheaper. I would return, just a regular hotel, nothing special.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Hotel's 69 rooms, entirely renovated and air-conditioned, are contained in 3 small typical Parisian buildings joined by a courtyard and a garden. The largest building has 38 rooms overlooking the main street. Some, named "Paris Comfort" offers a balcony with stunning views of the Butte Montmartre and the Sacre-Coeur. The 25 rooms of the second building, called "Privilege" as is peacefully located in the yard and garden. Warm tones married to white duvets give their charm and intimacy. The 6 remaining rooms, named "Villa Cosi", renovated in warm colors are located in a charming town house, surprisingly quiet for the middle of Paris. The approach of our architects was to rethink the rooms as comfortable cocoons using a rational and highly practical layout to make all the services immediately accessible along the walls. The choice of materials and subtly contemporary colours give a chic touch of elegance and design to the decor. The comfort and modernity are enhanced by the presence of large flat screen television with TNT and satellite, new bedding with quilt instead of the traditional bedspreads. ... more   less
