Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile

Reviewed 18 February 2014

Stayed here for two nights over the weekend. Stayed in a executive suite on the 33rd floor! Great room but could do with some updating.

Used the regency club a bit while we were there. Champagne, wine, beers, minerals and canapés served each evening to club members. Very comfortable with friendly and helpful staff.

The views from the bar on the top floor (34th floor) are stunning. The gym on the top floor is pretty basic.

Our room had queen size bed, sofas, two televisions, minibar. Unfortunately no tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Separate bathroom and toilet. Good wifi connection provided free.

If coming from Charles de Gaulle airport book your transfers with "les cars Air France". They drop off and pick up right outside hotel. Cost of €27.50 each return trip.

Definitely recommend this hotel and will return!

Stayed for the weekend and were lucky enough to be in a room with a wonderful view of the city & landmarks and this made our stay. Rooms are small but have all that you need and location of the hotel is perfect. Below hotel is link to M1 metro (up and down Champs Elysees & links to rest of Paris) and also to the RER (trains outside of normal metro offering) and on top of that you can easily walk to Arc de T from the hotel. The view from the 34th floor bar is superb but be warned about the drinks prices, one is enough! Hotel has 900+ rooms, is business stay focused but staff were very helpful, friendly and concierge called into our room after arriving to welcome us and make sure we were settling in ok. Breakfast was basic but again, was fine for what we required, as were keen to get out and see the city. Overall, we loved our weekend and would definitely return to this hotel. Paris is Paris, expensive and hotel rooms are generally smaller but in terms of location, attitude of the staff, and access to amenities & tourist attractions, difficult to find a better location.

Special thanks to Emilie Laurent (concierge desk) who looked after us so well when we got there and also was so helpful over email prior to us arriving. Made our trip.

Quick Tips:
- Les Car (bus from airport) drops you right outside hotel, costs €29 return and comes every half an hour. Stress free and very handy. RER (train) also goes from airport but if you have luggage, get the bus. ( a lot of stairs to come up from RER to ground level )
- Get the Metro 1 to Palais Royal, switch over to Metro 7, and visit the Latin Quarter for lovely meals, reasonable set price menus and a really nice atmosphere.
- You can walk / metro to everywhere from this hotel, no need for taxis so big saving.
- Versailles ( 40 mins away ) is a must day trip ;€12.50 online or €15.00 there and again, easy to get to from metro stop below hotel.

Room Tip: There are 900 rooms in this hotel, we were very lucky to be given a room with a stunning view by the...

Booked this hotel from Priceline for 2 nights in Feb 2014. The rate was a big discount compared to the hotel website. Took about 30-40 min from the airport with Les Cars 2 transport. The hotel is located in a great area, with many shops, restaurants and the Metro directly linked to the hotel. All the main attractions are accesible with the Metro, best bet is to get a 2 or 3 day pass depending on how many days you need. Gives you unlimited travel with the Metro. Beware of scammers at the Metro stations that try and help you purchase tickets but give you expired tickets in return.
The hotel room could use some work, but I believe the Hyatt will be doing renovations this year, as the hotel used to be a different chain not too long ago. Check in was smooth, lobby looks nice and staff were helpful.
Would def stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the Eiffel Tower

Stayed here for 3 nights over February, I originally booked the Ares Eiffel hotel which is a highly thought of boutique style hotel however nearer the time i decided to try Priceline for a hotel in Paris and see what i could come up with - The Answer was the Hyatt Etoile.

At first i was not happy and immediately regretted my decision as the hotel we were originally staying in Paris was in the top 25 hotels in Paris and well the Hyatt was down around 1200!!

Well once we arrived my mind went at ease, The place is fine infact i felt they were very professional and service was great at front desk and around the hotel, Our room was clean and had good views from the 18th floor, The hotel itself is very busy and seems to have a lot of buisness and chinese guests so using the lifts wasnt really fun as you never made a trip from lobby to hotel without stopping.

The hotel is in a great location, Next to a high end shopping centre, some good restaurants and great transport links, Metro is right beside hotel as is bus link to the airports and best of all very close the the red line which is the main line through Paris so good if you planned a trip to Disney.

All in all a good comfortable stay and worth the cost compared to other hotels in Paris, I really would expect this hotel to push on and improve its rating with guests in the future.

Stayed at the Hyatt this week on a business trip. It's a huge place - probably around 800 rooms. So its hard to create an atmosphere of course but the rooms really are terribly bland and soulless. Little colour, basic furnishings and bathroom. Essentially clean but totally uninspiring. Yes there is free wifi - but the TV channel choice was really limited in terms of anything English language.

Breakfast was really poor - limp days old fruit and little of interest to eat sadly.

On the up side - the view from the 34th floor bar is great.

Business meeting facilities were pretty good - we were well looked after and the in meeting room lunch was actually really good.

More colour in the rooms and a revamp of the breakfast would make quite a difference here.

Room Tip: a view of the Eiffel tower is probably best

Thank you for your feedback, and we do apologize we did not live up to usual Hyatt excellent standards.

However we are delighted that you enjoyed the view of the city from Bar La Vue, the view is indeed spectacular.

The project will include a renovation of the hotel’s guestrooms and refurbishment of its public areas.

We look forward to welcome you again in our hotel.

Paid nearly £200 to stay here for a single night because of a conference the congress center. The room deperately needs to be refurbished as its very tired and dated looking. Bathrooms had been redone recently so that was OK. My door lock was broken and reported it to the hotel who were very attentive.

Location and views are great and people will continue to stay here because of this but the rest is disappointing for the price you pay.

Have stayed several times at this hotel. It used to be Concorde Lafayette, now Hyatt Regency. I choose it sometimes due to convenient location: if you need to be between the center and La Defense, or between the Southwest of Paris and CDG airport, and next to Peripherique, the location is good. The hotel has seen better days when it was Concorde Lafayette and new. Some rooms have since been refurbished, but more needs to be done, including public areas. The refurbished parts are quite nice, and rooms higher up have often stunning views. As has the bar at the top of course. Water pressure and temperature varies a lot in showed, and not just in one room. Gym is OK. WiFi works usually well. Breakfast room is a bit too small for the number of rooms in the hotel, so queues form outside during rush hour. Recent layout improvement has improved breakfast experience a bit. Apparently there is something wrong or outdated in the IT system or associated process, as check-in and check-out takes surprisingly long per person. All in all, average 3/5 in its category.
