Hyatt Regency Paris Etoile
Ranked #1,224 of 1,803 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed 3 March 2014

Stayed here in May 2009 for 5 days. Previously this hotel is known as Concorde La Fayette. Love this hotel due to its location and facilities surrounding. This hotel is easy access to Metro stations and to shopping mall. The shopping mall can be accessed from the hotel's lobby. The hotel lobby is spacious with simple design. It's location in central Paris makes it easy way to go to famous places in Paris i.e. Eiffel Tower, Arc de Tromphe & Louvre museum.
The hotel room size is standard size hotels room. There are rooms at certain floor that can see the view of Eiffel Tower from the room. The room also equipped with standard size LCD tv and iron facilities, but kettle is not provided in the room. The king-sized bed is comfy as well as its pillows.
Overall, this hotel is recommended if looking for an easy access hotel.

The room offered a great view towards Tour Eiffel and Arc de Triomphe, the gym was spacious and the view was nice too. However, the corridor in blue and a lot of mirrors plus strange lighting and on top a run down room painted in orange and a bath-room redone too many year ago did not meet expectations of a Hyatt. Queuing at check-in and check-out need improvement.

Everything needs to be judges in context when you travel as you know. So what I rated the Hyatt is not the US standard but French. Service is great so I gave them a 5. The rooms needs lots of TLC and should be remodeled.
But Guy and Viktoria the managers go out their way to please. Compare that to other venues in Paris they are on top.
Try it. Prices are competitive probably because the rooms are ok, internet sucks. But boy do they try hard.

I would not have written this review (if me and others who also stayed and experienced the same things) were not so pissed at the hotel staff at that time

First Of All, i would like to let you all know, that this is true :
(I am travelling with Mr.Rizky Pratama E, you can find his review later/below my review)
We are a group of LG VIP Dealers in Indonesia (it was An Incentive Trip for our Achievement) and we used 22 rooms, Checked In 20/Feb/2014 ; Check Out 22/Feb/2014

Let’s Start from the beginning :

The Carpet (You can also read Agoda.Com review about the carpets)
It is a bit dirty and not well maintained… but this was not actually our issue

The Hot Water / The Electric Kettle / Tea, Coffee, Sugar, Creamer
None of those you can expect to see in your Room, all in our 22 rooms, they were all not being served. A bit Strange for Hyatt Standards,

The toiletries
Not much you can expect from this 4 star hotel, only the Bar Body Soap, Body Shower Gel, and Shampoo. Others like sewing kit, toothbrush, shoe shiner, were not provided. Not to mention also, there were NO free/compliment Mineral Water inside your room, even for a bottle.

The Towel
For bath towels, normally you will get two clean ones every day, but on our second day, the big towel was only left one and not being replaced. I do not know the main reasons, but it all happened in our rooms. Perhaps Hyatt Head Office should check Hyatt Etoile Paris for their low and nonsense standards.

The Staffs
Only the security manager can help you, not the duty manager, not the housekeeping, or even room service.
Why ? Because when we sit down and talk nicely with him (Duty Manager) that night, no one was trying to help us to ask what we need in our rooms (including Him, the duty Manager).
Until we were angry and after a long argument , the security manager came and asked us what the problem was, and he did helped us by trying to explain it to the silly duty manager (DM).

First he (DM) told us that the Mini Bar were all free, but later he changed his mind saying that only a bottle of mineral water (not even two) from minibar was free (It was because we complaint that there were no water inside our rooms and were charged €5 Euro to get hot water delivered).
Then we told the Security Manager to even call the Police to be the witness to checked what we told him all was true, and also checked our rooms for the sake of stupidity 

The initial name of the Duty Manager is G.M., (later he signed our free Minibar petition).
He was the one we hoped that night who could solve our problems, yet he still resisted that it was the hotel standards that rooms are not provided with basic hotel service.
We showed him the printed bill €5, from his staff asking me for money in exchange for hot water.
We even asked him in front of the security manager, whether it was the hotel standards, that no coffee/tea/water/sugar were provided as the basic service. All he did was silence.

Later in the morning when we checked out, we gave the docket for the porter service (we gave it to the concierge), but all they did was nothing. They seemed that they didn’t care and didn’t even bother to give us a hand. We asked the concierge for help in the middle of our process to put the baggage in the car, and they said they had other things to do and yelled in his languages waving his hand and screaming. Truly we did very regret and we will pass this to anyone, especially from Indonesia, not to stay in Hyatt Etoile in Paris.

Here is what we think, when you do sell the service, you have to keep calm and listened to your customers and provide apology if proven guilty. Although it would not solve the entire problems, but I supposed there weren’t any losses admitting your weaknesses, at least it would calm down your customers.

To the Customer Relationship Officer of Hyatt Etoile Paris, if you and other Hyatt Staffs do regret it sincerely please kindly reply us your formal apology (with your company letterhead and the signed by the General Manager of the hotel), you could ask for my email privately, and we would forward it Our group and the Indonesian Tour Leaders Group Association.

Room Tip: Please ask the receptionist first whether the hot water is free and make sure you don't even get...

I recently completed a six night stay with my wife and infant son. Overall, while it is rough around the edges (and that will be fixed during the current renovation), this is an amazing hotel and I am happy to recommend this hotel to anyone but especially to families looking for a convenient trip with rooms a bit larger than are traditionally in Paris.

We booked a Regency Suite King using Gold Passport points and were upgraded (we have no status) to an Ambassador Suite after requesting a view from high up of the Eiffel Tower. Our room had an amazing view of the tower. Check in was quick and efficient and an agent escorted us to our room to ensure it was satisfactory.

The room itself was two rooms. One was a bedroom (King Bed) overlooking the Eiffel Tower and had a full bathroom. The other room had a couch, coffee table, several chairs, TV, a view of the Eiffel Tower and a second bathroom. While the room was due to be updated (and will be in the current renovation) it was clean and met all of our needs. I cannot complain about the room.

We booked at the Regency level to have access to the Regency Club so we were able to eat breakfast in the club and access it throughout the day for snacks. This worked out great, saved us quite a bit of money on breakfast and was super convenient given that we were travelling with a stroller and eating breakfast on site allowed us to have a consistent routine to start our days.

I cannot say enough how amazing the view is from this hotel. Others pay to go up other buildings to get this view. Don't do it. Just book at this hotel.

While I have seen complaints about the location, they are completely unwarranted. The location is perfect. The hotel is on top of a mall and has direct access to the RER C and Metro Line 1 without going outside. This is very convenient. The 1 line travels along the Seine to all major sites (10 minutes away to Museums and Notre Dame) along the river and the RER C goes right to the Eiffel Tower in 10 minutes.

Inside the mall is a grocery store and bakery (great for grabbing bread at the Paul Bakery and sandwich meats at the grocery store for a cheap meal), several small restaurants and an Angelina pastry/hot chocolate location that is a must visit. Takeaway is cheaper so take some for the road and eat it in your hotel room after returning from a long day.

In short, I cannot think of a hotel with a better view that is more convenient for a tourist traveling in to visit the major sights with a family. I fully intend on staying in this hotel when we travel back to Paris in the upcoming years.

I also have to say that the current manager, Michel Morauw, is one of the best Hyatt has and I have no doubt he will turn this hotel into the star Hyatt in Paris. He is currently working to train the staff on Hyatt standards and complete a top to bottom renovation. I cannot wait to see what he does as this hotel is amazing right now but also has limitless potential.

I stayed 4 nights at this Hyatt Regency and believe there is good to report and improvement is also needed. It is a Hyatt Regency that does not realize it is a Hyatt Regency. I know that it just transferred over from another chain and I will not comment on the need for renovations as many of the other reviews did this already.

I will comment that the staff seems to try hard, however, their efforts seem to fall right below the typical Hyatt Regency standards that are expected. There seems to be a lack of attention to detail. The issues seemed to be a lack of attention to detail and are not major complaints, but rather slight annoyances. For instance, laundry bags were provided, but no laundry slip. Of course, a guest can call and ask for a laundry slip, but shouldn't have to. Out of the 4 nights, there were only 2 nights of turndown service. Why the inconsistency? The lounge food was the same every day. Normally, the Regency lounges change the food every other day so that the guests don't get bored. Also, when I ordered an ice bucket, there was a 5 Euro charge for the delivery even though the ice was free. When I asked about it, the waiter advised that this was the hotel policy.

So, I think the hotel needs to figure out what it intends to be. It functions as if it weren't a full Hyatt Regency, however, it does bear the name. I even called a manager to discuss the issues and pointed out ways that a Hyatt Regency typically perform and the manager advised that the hotel just converted to become a Hyatt Regency and they were working on getting everything in place.

It's not a bad hotel, it just needs much better attention to detail.

Room Tip: Ask for a renovated room with a view toward the Eifel Tower.

Hotel convenient for conference centre but was not impressed with my stay there. First room we were given the shower curtain was lying in the bath and there was no safe. After some delay we were given another room. There is no tray with kettle etc for making coffee or tea in room. carpets were stained and dirty in corridor. Lifts took forever to come. Surly staff at entrance to breakfast areas. Altogether did not feel there was a pleasant atmosphere in Hotel.
Metro quite near to hotel but quite a distance away if you are a tourist wishing to see the sights etc. Would not choose to stay here again.
