“Terrible value for the money.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 November 2011

I would not recommend this hotel. The room was uncomfortable and the bathroom was terribly laid out. I suggest staying in a different part of the city and getting more value for your money.

For a hotel in this price range it rates well. Quiet setting and clean rooms with very helpful and friendly staff. The location is perfecr for visiting almost every thing - we walked to the Louvre, Notre Dame, Musee d'Orsay easily. The neighbourhood had many cafes and restaurants to choose from in all price ranges. The Luxembourg Gardens are one block behind the hotel. Always something to see or do within a few minutes walk. Also the St Germain du Pres neighbourhood immediately in front of the hotel had many good shops and interesting little streets full of places to explore. A good spot!!

Room Tip: Ask for larger rooms overlooking the square.

If you are looking for a basic place to stay in the Luxembourg Gardens area of Paris, the Mchelet Odeon is a good choice. The prices are a bargain for Paris, and the rooms are clean. There is free internet, but everything else (coffee for example) is an extra charge. Because this is the Latin Quarter, expect some noise late at night from the street. If they recommend a hotel shuttle to the airport, don't do it - our shuttle took 2 and a half hours to get to Charles De Gualle and we missed our flight!

We stayed at this hotel for four nights, our room was fine, great bed and wonderful bathroom. I thought it was excellent value for money, yes breakfasts are ridiculous price buy hey it's Paris. We had breakfast nearby for 10 euros which included an omelette. The location is excellent, right by the Luxembourg gardens and near so many excellent restaurants. We met the owner of the Hotel who was lovely. We did not find the lady who did breakfasts friendly at all but maybe they get fed up with the way tourists treat them. Our friends room was not as great as ours, their room number being 41. Overall our stay was good and excellent value for Paris.

Room Tip: Room 32 was good.

I booked here for four nights and have been looking forward to my stay until I read the review about the scabies. It is my third night here and so far no problems.

Although I gave the hotel 3's I highly recommend it for it's location. I've been to Paris twice before and have stayed in different arrondissements, so I know how expensive and small Parisian rooms are. The rooms here a small, but really, you're in Paris, hopefully you'll be spending most of your time out in the city. The rooms are a bit dodgy, old carpet, etc, but most importantly the beds and bathroom are clean and the staff have been very kind and helpful. The front desk employees have all spoken English. I have not eaten the breakfast - for €14 I'd prefer to eat fresh croissants at one of the several bakeries nearby.

The shopping in this area is fabulous and you are a 15 minute walk to Blvd St.Germaine.

It's very tricky to choose a hotel sight unseen, so I really appreciate the photos and reviews on Trip Advisor.

BTW if you want the best macaroons, go to Laduree on Rue Bonaparte, about a brisk 20 minute walk. Extremely worth the walk.

Also, the best city map is a freebie offered here at the hotel. Check out the pic.

Great hotel in really excellent part of Paris - very central to shops, parks, bars and cafes. Only draw back is breakfast is very expensive but with so many cafes close by no need to have breakfast in the hotel. Lift goes to 4th floor - we were on 5th floor so one floor walk up - no drama.

Room Tip: 5th floor felt more private

We stayed here only 1 night, picking this location because of it's proximity to the RER to the airport for our flight out the next morning. The staff were great and the location convenient. The room was actually spacious compared to other Paris hotels I have stayed at. The breakfast is way overpriced at 13 euro per person, go to a nearby cafe and get a better petit dejeuner at half the price. The primary downside of the room was the noise. There were restaurants immediately below our window and trying to get to bed at a decent time to get up early for our flight the next morning was challenging. I had to break out the ear plugs. For 130 euro a night I expected more, when I come to Paris I typically stay at a hotel in the 7th that runs 90-100 euro a night and while smaller it was much more comfortable and in a more convenient area. For 130 euro I expected more and I was disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for something away from the street.
