“Best Deal in Paris”
Reviewed 21 October 2013

We stayed here for five nights and were completely satisfied. Peet was the perfect host and most helpful at all times. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were wonderful. We stayed in room #1 and had no trouble with sharing the facilities. The breakfasts were great and Peet provided something new every day to add to the already ample variety of choices. We would also recommend this place because of it is so close to the train station from Charles de Gaulle, the Eurostar and the Metro.

Peet was a lovely host. Aside from the usual breads, cereals, and ham and cheese, he always cooked at least one dish every breakfast. They were all very delicious by the way. My husband and I are still raving about his french toast when we got home ;) We really enjoyed the conversations with him and the other guests at the B&B during breakfast. Peet also offered great tips in exploring Paris.

We stayed in Room #5, which had its own private bath. I think it was the only room that had a separate entrance (from outside their apartment). The room was very spacious and had a nice interior. There was no air conditioning but we didn't need it during our stay as the weather was already chilly at that time. A minor thing, but maybe the lighting in the room can be made a bit brighter. The room was still dim (maybe dimmer from what we are used to), especially at night, even if we had all 3 lights on :)

The location of the B&B was also very convenient. Just a short walk away from Gare du Nord. We read some reviews here that said the area was somehow shady especially at night but we didn't feel that way at all during our stay. We felt safe walking in the area at night and even took a stroll from the B&B to Canal St. Martin on our first night there.

We highly recommend this B&B and would stay here again if we get another chance to visit Paris.

We stayed at the studio apartment, so we probably have a different experience compared to the B&B reviews.

Pros
- convenient location. The Gare du Nord station is central to a lot of the train lines. So from the airport we just took one line to get here.
- near cafes, bakery, pharmacy, supermarket
- had our own kitchen - so if we bought food from outside we can just heat it up and eat here
- nice views outside our apartment window

Cons
- the area nearby was a bit scary looking at night, didn't feel very safe. (But after a few days here we didn't feel as scared as when we first arrived)
- some of the streets nearby had a weird pee smell (but I think this is Paris in general.. several areas we went to would have this smell)
- internet was hardly accessible from the apartment
- at night there were no lights coming in to the apartment.

Overall given the price it wasn't a bad place to stay, but not for those who are used to staying at fancy hotels.. Expect budget accommodations. For me the big plus is how convenient location wise it is to transportation.

Room Tip: I think the B&B is the better accommodation here. For the apartment if you do plan to stay here...

Serious like the place and the owners are very helpful and informative. Stayed 2 nights and had to get up early in the morning to get a train. The only mar was others coming in in the small hours and waking us up on the second night.

Only 4 min. walk from the train station, very quite apartment and a lovely host :)

We stayed in room #4 and had our own shower, toilet, small fridge and a microwave.
In the morning a very nice breakfast was waiting for us and Peet (the host) helped us plan the rest of our day.
We will come back for sure!

Picked this B and B after reading the reviews. We had Rahim as a host for two mornings while Peet was away, thene Peet for 3 mornings. We had the African room, which was small but big enough for 2 suitcases and ourselves. It was very quiet at night as it faced the courtyard. We were on a strict budget and this was the cheapest room at 70.5 euros per night plus the Paris tax. If you can afford the higher tariff, then do so, the rooms are so much bigger and lovely. Breakfast was lovely, always a beautiful croissant (to die for). Cereal, muesli, meats and cheese, plus yoghurt, Peets home made yoghurt was beautiful. We did not go hungry.... The rooms were spotless, and if you needed anything you could knock on the door and just ask. The apartment has lovely wooden floors, high ceilings and is very quaint. Located just down the road to the Gare de Nord, just come out of the big main entrance, look down the road and look for the leader price supermarket and pharmacie., it is about two doors down from the pharmacie, if you get lost just pop in there and they will show you where to go. It is a big old green door, just key in your code and you will be buzzed up. Take the first door in the right and buzz A Room in Paris. It can be hard to find so hope this review helps. If you decide to book this B and B, you are half an hour walk to the Louvre, Notre Dame, maybe 3/4 hour to Eiffel Tower. If you prefer to take public transport, then the Gare de Nord can take you anywhere. If I can take the metro on my own, then anyone can... Bon chance....

Room Tip: The courtyard rooms are the best, quiet at night...

We booked this room after seeing the reviews on tripadvisor, and we are very glad we did. Host Peet is extremely friendly, and made us feel welcome. The place feels very safe and secure, and is close to Paris Noord Train station, which made it easy to get to from the airport, and also made it easy to get around Paris. The one small criticism was that the floorboards in our room and in the hallway were a bit squeaky and so you could hear people if they got up in the middle of the night, but there was no noise from the street. Would definitely recommend.
