Ever wondered wich hotel to choose? Hotel Sofia with it's location, friendly and helpful staff, lovely neighbourhood and short walk to the highlights, is THE place for your Paris visit. I loved the grocery store around the corner where I picked up fresh fruit, good wine and fresh baked bread with the significant "crust". I loved the atmosphere of a local neighbourhood with excellent restaurants at very low prices. And the short stroll to Sacré Coeur with it's excellent view over Paris, breathtaking! Montmartre with it's history of local and also well known painters and the fact that this was an area for buying sexual services in the early days. It's only a few minutes from Hotel Sofia to downtown Paris with the excellent metrosystem. The price for a room is affordable and the standard is excellent due to the hotels upgrade. They serve a nice breakfast in a cosy atmosphere downstairs at a price of 7 Euro... unless you'd like to hunt down the bread yourself at the grocery store. The beds are comfortable, the hotel is very clean and modern. The hotel staff is very helpful. As a result of forgetting the backpack of my daughter by departure, the staff contacted me and shipped the backpack by mail as soon as possible, great service Lydia! If you arrive by car, the hotel has a great parking garage, just remember to book in advance. So, why stay in a crowded touristplace with artificial high prices when you can stay comfortable and affordable with a great view over Paris by night? It takes 10-15 minutes to travel downtown from the hotel. Montmartre is beautiful in it's own charming way, oh, and don't forget to visit the "red mill". Hotel Sofia you are highly recommended!

Room Tip: If you are a family, don't hesitate to pick the large familyroom. It had every amenities you'...

I was not expecting much of the room because of the low price we paid. Actually the room itself was quite good. It was clean and looked new and the people working there were friendly.
But.... The heat in the room was overwhelming. We had a bag on the floor with chocolate, and during the night it all MELTED. We felt boiled. And the walls were so, so paper thin. You could hear everything from the room next door.
Also, the beds were not very comfortable and not sleeping well just gave me headaches.

But, the location was nice. And it has a grocery store (Carrefour Market) just around the corner, so we could by cheap drinks and food there instead of buying breakfast at the hotel.

Another thing was that it said free wifi in the lobby, which there was. But after the first night it never worked, and the guy in the counter said there was something wrong with the connection, so we didnt get wifi at all the last days.

It is a very nice hotel, after renovation. Rooms are very clean and comfortable (but not very big, but it is in old French building). TV, hairdryer, glass table, and wireless internet (if You choose a room on 4th floor the signal is weak) in the room is everything that You need. The location is perfect, 2-3 minutes walking distance to the subway, 5-6 minutes to Sacre Coure, 8-10 minutes to moulin Rouge and Pigalle where night life is very effective. Staff is very friendly and helpful (I had a non usually request and it was done) they speak English very well!!! Breakfast is very nice but it is not a buffet (just typical French one - croissant, baguette, yogurt, honey, jam, coffee or tea, juice). And the price is reasonable!!! I recommend it with all my heart! TRIPPLANNER (com.pl)

In the heart of Montmarte District - even at night no worries even if "living" quarter in the night not far from Barbes....

The staff were very friendly and very helpful with all we needed. They helped us and we definitely recommend it.

Only weak point - very very nicely renovated bathroom but very small....you should not be too "imposant" to get in there....

Bed room big enough...view on back side not so nice but we did not ask for any special view

Hotel Sofia was a great place for our family to stay right in the heart of Montmarte District. The stairs up to our 4th floor were a bit daunting but we managed OK and the room was sufficient with its own bathroom. Great walking to all attractions. You will need some basic French to communicate with the manager but we found they were helpful and organised our cab to the airport on our last day. The room was sleeping only, but we spent our time day and night wandering this great and interesting city and ate out often on the money we saved on the accommodation.

Room Tip: ask for extra pillows and blankets, upstairs rooms best but the stairs are tricky
