“A brilliant very different kind of hotel”
Reviewed 2 September 2013

We stayed at Hotel Amour for three nights at the end of August having been tipped off about it by a friend who lives in Paris.

We do not have enough good things to say about the hotel.

It is not a typical hotel experience so you need to reset your expectations. There is no TV, phone or safe in the room. It is more like staying at a very fabulous friends apartment that they have styled like a hotel. We loved it. Some rooms appeared to be smaller than ours so it is worth paying slightly more to ensure that you don't get the smallest room on offer.

The staff were incredible. They can not do enough for you. Pierre on reception and all the girls in the restaurant are all thoroughly charming. Everything we asked, they did and and went over and above what we requested. Nothing was too much trouble. Everything was made very easy.

The restaurant in the hotel is fantastic, The food delicious. It's worth a visit in even if you are not a hotel guest. Having lunch in the busy and buzzy green courtyard under the shady canopies of leaves and huge living walls of plants was really special. The place is a real hub for the locals and makes for brilliant people watching, particularly at lunch time.

The hotel is a brilliant location in a very cool part of town, far from all the tourist hell. From the left bank to the Marais, no where we wanted to go was more than a 30 minute walk or a cheap cab ride.

We did not want to leave.

A great relaxed staffed Hotel in a good area, great restaurant (get's very busy) on the ground floor, not for kids!! Photographs of naked girls & women from late 19th century up to the '70's adorn all walls of the Hotel accommodation areas (some may get offended by some of the subject ages, but hey it's 'art' n 'love'..) good sized rooms for Paris, some have great showers too..HUGE! that flood the bathroom!. Each room is different & IMHO 'cool' in it's decor, rooms are clean..the Hotel does have an elevator it's the smallest one I've ever seen but at least it has one.
Paris is busy city & this Hotel gets early deliveries so can also be noisy very early in the AM.
If you wanna check the place out go for breakfast or dinner..It's our favourite place in Paris to stay. Terrible for parking..but why have a car in Paris??

Hotel Amour is one of the places to be and to be seen at in Paris. It's a hipster hotel and they have a nice restaurant. I ate there a couple of times and always had a good time, good service and the food was good. I stayed the for a night as well. Again, this is a young hipster hotel, with great value for Paris (especially for the area it's located) so don't expect them to roll out the red carpet for you. They were nice and (too?) friendly. The rooms are funky and dark at least mine was all painted in black), the shower didn't work so well, the amenities were not from Kiehl's as i had been told. You hear the other doors slamming but if you have a garden view room then it should be less noisy than the ones facing the street.
The breakfast was very good, very typical french.
I would definitely recommend it for a young hip couple or if you're travelling with friends. I'd avoid it if it's a family trip and for elderly couples.

Room Tip: Garden view rooms are more quiet

We had just a brunch in a hot summer day in Paris not staying in the hotel. The food is ok, not excellent and not generous at all: a salmon bagel and a mediterranean salad (with a glass of wine and coffee 26 euro Each). I recommend for those who are not starving but love to experience the best garden in Paris. Having a lunch there is simply great!

Was a really cool hotel- great decor (but small) and funky. Restaurant was amazing- just the best food- including the breakfasts! Most amazing eggs and yoghurt/granola.
Also have to commend the staff there- they were super friendly and helpful- especially Pierre who was GREAT and got us reservations for dinner at a very popular restaurant.
However, don't expect to get a lot of sleep here- the rooms are not soundproofed at all and you can hear EVERYTHING in the halls. As well as on the street if you are facing that way. AND we were right beside the old elevator and could hear it going up and down all night. We had a young group on our floor who was running around the floor yelling for each other and it was not fun. If you want to party and have fun and be out all night, this is a cool place to stay. if you want to sleep- may not be the best for you or maybe we just had an unlucky location.

Hotel amour is not for family's or travelers that are used to all the Amenities of an international hotel. It's everything you need and nothing you don't. The restaurant is great. The rooms are typical size of a Parisian hotel at this price. Internet is free and everywhere. And it's all done tastefully.

Me and my friend had lunch in hotel amour.
I had the ceaser salade! and my friend the ravioli.
It was a bit different that what we are used to have.
Meaning the ceaser salade was just salade + chicken + croutons + cheese.
No vegtables.. (meaning tomato, cucumber, carrots,...)

But it was really good. My friend really liked her food.. and it was really cozy to have lunch their. 'little hipster place' pretty girls and pretty boys! and very friendly staff!!! :)

limited menu card.... but a perfect getaway out of the turistic paris! I got the impression that it was a place where you can meet a lot of locals!

good place for young ppl (meaning 20something)
