“convenience, value for money and friendly, efficient staff will bring me back here!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 May 2011

My husband and i really enjoyed our stay at this well run and clean hotel. the location was great- a 5 minute walk from Gare de Lyon which is only 2 stops from Gare de Nord- so very useful for Eurostar travellers.

Our room was not big (Room 203) but we appreciated having such a large window that allowed so much natural light in to the room. The bathroom was small but very clean and new looking. The shower was absolutely incredible too- fabulous water pressure! We also liked the fact that there was at least 1 channel in English (CNN) which allowed us to watch the Royal Wedding highlights and keep up with general world things.

The staff were lovely and helpful. Everyone was incredibly friendly so we always had a warm feeling about the place. We would come back at strange times e.g. 3am at times and would still get warm welcomes from tired reception staff in need of sleep!

We never had breakfast there- there was no need as there was a very handy boulangerie/pattiserie a couple of doors down (which also took care of frugal lunches). there is also a small supermarket next to the patisserie which was very convenient. There are a number of bistrots and restaurants open late which is handy for the odd late night supper.

The location was extremely convenient in terms of getting around Paris. We tried to walk when possible but having the metro so nearby was useful too.

There have been some comments about the lift door opening on to a flight of stairs. I can imagine this being a problem for people struggling with heavy luggage as it may be awkward to negotiate keeping the lift door open (tiny lift btw) while dragging out suitcases. We had no such issue as we didn't have that much stuff and we used the stairs to get to and from the 2nd floor. For those who have issues using even a few steps, please note that the lift is NOT on the ground floor- you'll need to walk up half a flight of stairs to access it.

The only issue that I faced was that the internet was INCREDIBLY tempermental. I needed it for work and I had real problems connecting to it. There is an internet cafe opposite the hotel but that was inconvenient for me as i needed to check my email intermittently. Sometimes the trick was to sit right next to the window but that didn't work all the time!

Room Tip: was much cheaper booking room through 3rd party

To begin with, the location is great: a couple of minutes walk distance from “Gare de Lyon” which is in the heart of Paris and where there is a subway and a railway station. The receptionists are friendly and manage to understand and speak enough English to make the life of visitors easy. Next door there are several pleasant cafes, restaurants, bistros and a supermarket.
Although it is a basic hotel, it is quite comfortable: cozy, spotless and no noisy can be heard from outside or from the other rooms. The room was quite small but it had a very large window with a pleasant view. There was also enough light for reading in bed at night. The bathroom was also very good, with a shower with lots of pressure.
The internet (Wi-Fi) was free.
The single weird I found in the hotel was the lift that stops in the middle of a narrow spiral staircase which is somewhat dangerous especially if you carry a heavy and large suitcase!

Chose this hotel because of proximity to Gare de Lyon and price. It was fine in all regards. Big windows with views of the street. Clean.

This two star hotel is close to the Gare du Lyon, just south of Bastille. I'm not sure how full the hotel was, so have no idea whether the room I had was given to me of necessity or through some less generous impulse. Nowadays I divide hotels into two sorts: those that are sweet and kind and generous towards the single traveller, and those that .. are not. This one falls pretty firmly into the second category.
Good things: pleasant common areas, roaring radiator so room warm - welcome as it was chilly outside, clean(- ish - the carpet could do with cleaning, or, ideally, renewal); lots of hot water; just-adequately-sized shower; desk; cotton sheets and reasonable lighting.
Not so good things: grim view (back of hotel), shoddy pillow , minor damage to walls -from ?moving a telephone- needs rectifying (it adds to the mild aura of cheerlessness); and - the real irritant - noise from the much commented-upon lift, and the corridors. I'm deaf, and therefore usually fairly impervious to noise, but was nevertheless repeatedly awoken during the night by the clattering of the lift mechanism and the opening and closing of its doors. Madame was blithely unconcerned by my report of my discomfort. I don't know whether other single rooms are sited so that this would be a problem in all of them, but I wouldn't willingly stay in room 208 again . One more word about that lift. The entrance is half way up each flight of stairs, on the 'turn'. Take care when stepping out - there isn't much space: the lift opens almost directly on to the staircase!

i spent ages looking for a clean, comfortable, affordable hotel wth good reviews and the adriatic came up trumps.its basic but clean.beds made every day and fresh towels etc.we had a twin room wth balcony on 4th floor.close to gare de lyon, plenty bars resturants supermarket etc.air con and good soundproofing.

this was another surprise trip for my 20 yr old daughter, she loved it.shower was big and plenty hot water and pressure.lift stopped in between floors a bit weird but ok.staff ok and we could leave our bags there b4 leaving later in the evening.all in all well worth the money and ideally placed for exploring the city.

only minus point is that rooms are small as expected but we where out all day and most of the night, who wants to be stuck in a room in a city like paris anyway.

Stayed with friends to coincide with Heineken (H-Cup) European Rugby final. Staff friendly and helpful and hotel while fairly basic maintained spotlessly and scrupulously. Beds comfortable and powerful en suite shower. Good connections by metro and rail to all locations given proximity to Gare de Lyon. Plenty of bars and restaurants in immediate vicinity and less than 10 minute walk to Bastille area for some more lively establishments. Hotel breakfast (@ €8) featured plentiful selection of breads although cafes nearby offer cheaper altenatives. Hotel was excellent value for money choice and would stay again.
