“Good value nice staff Outstanding in Paris!”
Reviewed 2 May 2014 via mobile

The location is perfect, the staff is very welcoming, the room is clean and the bathroom too: this is therefore an outstanding hotel for Paris. Nevertheless, there is two things you must know : the staircase is steep and there is no elevator, Call and ask for a room in lower level if needed; the room can be noisy as the wall between rooms are very thin, however nobody is talking that much is such small rooms (they are small indeed). I highly recommend if you got a small budget !

This small budget no frills hotel is well located several minutes walking distance from Montparnasse train station, and subway Pasteur is literally at its doorstep. (The Paris subway is user friendly despite looking like a horrible mess on paper)!

My room was very basic but clean and comfortable. The reception staff were friendly and helpful offering touring, safety and dining advice. Many dining options within minutes walking distance. And all major tourist attractions are easily linked by the subway.

This was my 2nd time in Paris. It still remains an expensive city to sleep in. The dollar or euro doesn't buy much Paris accommodation.

The Camelia fit the needs of two adults and two teenagers perfectly. We had two small double rooms next to each other, one with a charming view. We did have to carry our bags up to the second floor, and the bathrooms were small. The hotel was very clean, and service was excellent. The breakfasts were fresh and good value. The owners were delightful, friendly and helpful. The neighborhood offered many places to eat, a produce stand, and, best of all, was directly across the street from one Metro stop and a short walk to Montparnesse Gare. It is easy walking distance to the Eiffel Tower, and we walked from other sites, too, such as Notre Dame and the Louvre, though it may be too far for some. We made last minute reservations at the height of the summer tourist season and were very satisfied with this find. Being a bit from the center, nights were quieter, with little traffic. Final notes: Do not confuse this Camelia Hotel with the other one on this site that is getting poor reviews, this one is a gem!

Room Tip: All rooms are close to the central spiral staircase, so higher floors would be quieter, since they a...

I, my wife and our 10 year old son stayed four nights. We want a hotel in great location that we can afford approaching peak season in Paris. The staffs have been very friendly and helpful to us from the moment we arrived until we left. As there is no lift in the hotel, we have requested a room in the lowest level possible as we have big luggages. Lucky we got a room in first floor. We could leave our two heavy luggages in the storage room.

The room was okay, a bit smelly when you enter but then it was okay. The big and small bed were also just okay. It's the bathroom that we found it's too small for any of us. Lucky everyday the room was cleaned and they changed the amenities regularly. The weather in Paris the week we stayed changed from sunny to rainy quite often. As the room has no air conditioner, when it was hot we could use the fan available in the room or simply open the window. However as the hotel is located in the busy area, it is quite noisy during the day.

The location is perfect for us. Pasteur metro station is just in front of the hotel, Montparnasse train station is mere walking distance. We can find a lot of restaurants or shops in the neighbourhood.

we chose this hotel because of the position t our daughter who works nearby,it was well placed to see all the tourist sites and the metro is opposite and easy to use, the room was clean(maid did a good job every day)but small beds comfy sheets clean, bathroom was tiny and a lot of pre planning and novel positioning was need to make use of it!,stairs are very narrow and steep spiral,we asked in writing when booking for assistance to take our one light bag up to the room and again when we checked in,but despite repeating this in french we got no help,(i must explain ,we werent being snobish i am recovering from several spinal operations and walk with a stick so cannot carry anything and my wife is not to well either,so we just needed a small favour)we also requested a room on a lower floor for the same reason and found ourselves on the third floor with six sets of spiral stairs, as you have no air con we opened the windows at night,it appears paris never sleeps as traffic noise and lots of shouting ,screaming all night from outside makes for a challenge to get to sleep,as long as you accept this the hotel is reasonably priced, clean, well located for all the sites and has lots of facilties nearby(pattisserie, subway, bars etc) breakfast is 6 euros and small so make use of the various cafes nearby for a better deal, use it as a base for exploring and nothing else and you should be happy

This hotel was filthy!!!!!
The floors were slanted. The door did not lock very well.
The bed spreads were dirty. Rooms were dark.
We checked out 20 minutes after checking in. The desk clerk said he did not know how to credit back our money so gave us a check for two nights, charged us for one. Could not cash check in Paris so called credit card company to cancel charge.
The pictures on line do not show the true story. The bathroom was very tiny the shower was a foot above the floor and very small.
All floors were filthy. Horrible, horrible, horrible....
