Ranked #938 of 1,805 Hotels in Paris
Reviewed 24 June 2013

We stayed for four nights in early June. Finding a hotel that offers good value for money in Paris isn't always easy. This is one of those hotels that still has that Paris charm to it. So if you aren't hung up on your wifi to be working fast 24/7 and have more need for a brisk shower to face the next paris-challenge than you need crystal clear television; this is your place.

The place is basic and clean. The staff is friendly, the beds are fine. The shower room is spacious and the shower (with bath) has good pressure. There is a safe for your valuables.

The rooms are recently redecorated and have a fresh feel to it. There is an air conditioning system set to 21 C. Without individual control, you can only hope that when it gets really hot outside, management will decide to drop that temperature a few degrees. I imagine they will, because they are nice people, who seem to know what their guests want.

The best feature of this hotel is its location, just off Place de la Bastille in a quiet side street. This might not seem the most central spot in Paris, but it is, in a way.

For public transport it's a great spot. Three lines of the subway system meet under Place de la Bastille, the 1, 5 and the 8. And to top that off, there is Gare de Lyon just around the corner.

I was traveling with an elderly person, and, knowing Paris quite well myself, anticipated a lot of staircases to climb in the metro. By dramatically cutting down the number of times we had to switch trains and taking a direct train to the Bastille, we made sure every day there was some energy left at night to go out and find that next wonderful restaurant!

There is a (real) bakery around the corner for all of your munchie moments, a night store for water and such, and even a monoprix supermarket close by. The neighborhood around Bastille has an interesting selection of restaurants so if you want to stay in the hood for dinner, there's ample choice!

Dear madam, dear sir,
dear readers!

your message on trip advisor is very complete and very kind, thank you very much from all of us.
we try to be different as the other hotel in Paris, and we try to meet all ours guest like in a house: the time to take care of you!
regarding the wifi, i will have a new installation in a few weeks, i know it is sometimes a problem: so for all our guests i am in order to conclue a new contract.
at the moment i have 2 floors completely , renovated, and we continue!!
it is right for our location: many historical places in Paris are easily reaching by walking ( when there is no problem for walking, of course! ) or by the metro: quickly from the hotel!

i am happy you keep a good memories of our city, thank you also for your visit in France!

i hope having the pleasure of meeting you again: you can contact us directly: it is always cheaper and easily!

kind regards,
lauren.

My family of 5 stayed at Hotel Alexandrie for 3 nights in June 2013. I must say that the two adjoining rooms we had were more than adequate and suited our needs. The rooms were very clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The Hotel is within walking distance from Gare de Lyon Station (5mins) and we were able to get around Paris so easily. If we didn't want to catch the Metro we were still able to walk pretty much anywhere we wanted. Very central and great location.

We spent two nights at this hotel and found it to be clean, reasonably priced at 60 euros per, and handy for connections. The room is small (as they usually are in European cities), but the bathroom was relatively large, with a full tub and a good shaving mirror. By my calculations, there are only about 17 large, clean bathrooms in all of France, so to get one here was a bonus! You can walk to it from the Gare de Lyon (about 300 yards), and you can then walk to the city centre from the hotel (about a half hour walk to the Louvre). The staff are friendly and helpful. We booked a car to the airport from them (36 euros for 2), although if I was doing it again, I'd walk to the Gare de Lyon and take the bus direct to DeGaulle Airport for a little less money and a scheduled departure time. The elevator is small, but we never used it as we were only 2 floors up. The price included all taxes. They also offer breakfast for an additional fee; however, we did not opt to dine at the hotel, so I can't offer an assessment.

Room Tip: The elevator is small, so try and get a room on the first or second floor.

Small hotel in the neighbourhood of Gare de Lyon. Typical small rooms with adequate bathroom. Quite standard, but good value for money at EUR 65 a night for two. Walking distance to Gare de Lyon.

Stayed here to go watch Swedish house mafia in bercy. The stadium was round the corner literally 10 seconds in a taxi which we didn't realise. Staff were lovely and made jokes about our 'scouse 'accents and late arrival. The room was so quirky and was like a loft conversion. Very pink but fun, huge, clean and tidy. It was only a one night stay but in that time the staff organised taxi rides and wake up calls.

There's no good reason why anyone would book this hotel intentionally. There are better, more comfortable and cheaper hotels closer to the Gare du Lyon (e.g. Viator, Novotel, Terminus Lyon).

The rooms are small, except the 5-person family rooms on the top floor which are of a good size (but very expensive). The lift is tiny, only allowing one person and his/her luggage at a time.

Breakfast was completely disorganised with only one very harassed-looking lady tending to and clearing all the tables.

The male receptionist was very friendly and let us stay in our room until 1.30pm because we had a late flight home.

But, to be honest, at these sorts of prices, you could get much more for your money with a little bit of shopping around.

Room Tip: Most rooms are small, except those on the top floor.

I stayed here in December 2012 to attend a meeting. The lodging was arranged by a travel agency under contract to the French Environment Agency. On the positive side, the hotel is clean and the breakfast reasonably good. The staff are pleasant and helpful and the hotel is a short walk from the Gare de Lyon. On the negative side, the room was tiny, poorly lit and there was only a tiny desk with a stool (no back). The corridors reeked of air freshener when some fresh air would have been much better. By far the worst feature of this hotel was the wireless internet. In a word, it was abysmal. Measured throughput was less than 1 Mbps up and down, Skype would not work reliably, even for voice calls. If you just want a place to sleep for the night between train trips, this hotel might be passable. For business travel, or as a base to explore Paris, I would advise another hotel or apartment.
