“Small, shabby room”
Reviewed 3 April 2013

Wow, how to begin. We understand how accomodations in Europe are in comparison to the US, specifically to the sizes of the rooms. The good thing about this hotel is that is very close to the metro (Chateau Rouge) and the Sacred Heart Church. The staff was pretty nice although they spoke very little to no English. Other than that, well, not so good. We were with a group of 24 people which included having the double, twin, triple and single rooms. We had one of the best rooms (double) on the 5th floor and I can honestly say that it is the worst hotel room that I have ever stayed in and we have stayed in A LOT. The bed was extremely squeeky and we could hear everything that our neighbors said thru the thin walls. The rooms are very small especially the bathrooms. Had a slight sewer smell that we could smell every time we entered the room. All bathrooms had hand held shower nozzles. The ones that had tubs with these had no shower curtains. We had electrical converters with us but if we used our hair dryers we had to use them on the low settings to get them to work if they would work at all. We had several lights out in our room including the light over the bathroom sink. Trying to get the shower temperature to a moderate setting (not too hot or cold) was a crap shoot. Some of the room heaters did not work.
The area around the hotel is very local and is predominately Haitian immigrants. While we did not feel unsafe in the area, some in our group, especially some of the women, were uncomfortable with the hotel, the surroundings and the metro. I would not recommend this to a single woman or any unadventurous traveler.

Great location near Montmartre, good value for money, even free WiFi. Rooms small but functional, bathroom very small. Needs some refurbishment, but was clean.
Breakfast seemed overprized given it was very continental.

We booked this hotel knowing it was a 2 star because we could not get anything else for the night we stayed there. When we went to our room and found it cold, we went to the front desk. The desk clerk came to the room tried to turn the heater on, saw it was not working.........so she gave us EXTRA BLANKETS! The heater in the bath room was torn off the wall with wires exposed! The toilet seat only had one bolt instead of 2. When I informed the front desk, he simply shrugged! There was an old light fixture on the wall with no bulb and again wires exposed! The room was relatively clean. I have enclosed pictures because most people would not believe a place could be so badly managed! I would sleep in a train station or airport before I ever came back here!

Room Tip: LOOK AT THE ROOM BEFORE REGISTERING AND PAYING! I would suggest sticking with a 3 star and up. Per...

for the cheapest price in paris and a handy location we got a small room mostly filled by the double bed which had a rather uncomfortable saggy mattress although it looked brand new! a tiny toilet and shower room but always plenty of hot water. to close door we had sit sideways on toilet but it was sparkly white and clean and towels changed every day. walls were paper thin so you hear everything in next room and above. noisy plumbing and dodgy electrics in head board and grubby carpet but we didnt care as we were hardly there. if you just want a place to sleep this is great. its minutes from chateau rouge metro and only two stops to gare du nord for eurostar. near handy shops in mostly north african area and a short walk to montmartre steps and sacre couer. we didnt have to deal with staff much but they seemed okay. wouldnt recommend it for romantic weekend but great budget base for exploring. would use it again.
