“Quaint cozy feel and good location”
Reviewed 17 May 2013

My friend and I had one extra day left in Paris and we decided to stay in this hotel. The staff who checked us in said there were two twin beds waiting for us in the room. We didn't expect them to be pushed together like one big bed though. The room was very small but the spacing and placing of furniture was efficient. It looked like the type of room writers would lock themselves in after a day of going around Paris. It was quaint, cozy, and a bit stuffy like it needed to be aired out. The sheets were a bit dusty but it wasn't horrible. The bathroom was a surprise. We didn't expect it to be so modern and good-looking, as opposed to the old-cottage feel of the room.

The elevator was unique and beautiful, but since we were on the first floor we could have easily just used the stairs. The key was also beautiful and unique. We didn't get to try the breakfast.

My friend didn't find the staff too helpful when she asked for help regarding a big box she needed to be sent out to the post office. They also didn't offer any help with the bags when we arrived.

It's very close to Gare de Lyon, a lot of shops and restaurants around.

Overall, it's a good place to stay if you're in Paris to go around the city. It's not a vacation-hotel where the hotel is part of the vacation. It's a good place to leave your things, have a shower and a good night's rest.

Room Tip: Rooms on the first floor aren't bad.

I have just returned from staying at the Prince Albert Concordia Hotel. My husband and I were at this hotel for 10 days and had a wonderful time. This quaint boutique hotel is very central and accessible to every corner of Paris. The metro is a two minute walk from the hotel. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the rooms, the people at the front desk were very accommodating and friendly, and the overall feeling it gave us was that of being at home. The rooms are not as big as you would find in Canada or America but still very accommodating. This is a real budget friendly hotel centrally located and we would stay there again without any hesitation.

I staid in Hotel Prince Albert Concordia for 3 nights in november, booked the room by internet only few hours before to arrive and asked for a nice room, and that was! I got room 504, on the 5th floor where you can see the beautiful avenue deumesnil. Equipment was quite nice, even if it wasn't a fridge on the room (but come on, is a 2 stars hotel!). Room has equipped with a flat screen tv, heating, a telephone, an electronic safe (which didn't work too, but staff offered me to change the room for this) a private bathroom with hair dryer and few bath amenities. Bathroom was very nice and spacious (see picture), a shame that it wasn't heated, but didn't caused me troubles. Bathroom also have a window, which is a great thing too.

The building is located on boulevard diderot, few meters from the station Gare de Lyon where you can catch several metro and rer lines, also day & night buses. Although we are near a train station, the area is pretty quiet and have a lot of restaurant and shops nearby.

Common areas are only the lobby (quite spacious) which also have an internet point, and a breakfast room. The hotel also offer internet wi-fi in all the building, which i tried and works very fine.

The breakfast can definitely be improved, even if this is only a 2 stars hotel.

The staff is quite nice, although they should be able to recommend a nice restaurant around the area.

Value for money ? You always have to keep in mind that you are in Paris, one of the most expensive cities in Europe....to be there the price was ok, to be in another city of France, maybe it was too expensive. Anyway I feel to recommend this place to travellers. I've seen many negative comments on tripadvisor about this hotel, which make me thing that it has changed management. The hotel seems in fact to belong to a small chain of hotels in Paris, and maybe it wasn't before. This should be found out....

We are travellers from USA and we had booked this hotel many days in advance and agreed upon a 100 euro rate per night for 3 nights. On arriving at Paris, we got welcomed by being robbed out of 50 euros by a gentleman at the train station. So we get to the hotel and checked in with this really sweet receptionist, who was happy to see us and spoke to us very kindly. He mentioned how Paris was not the US and how we shouldn't trust ANYBODY esp. in the train stations. He genuinely felt for us. We had just arrived from London where the place we stayed at gave us a 5% discount if we paid by cash. So I asked this guy if they had a similar policy here and he said they didn't have anything like that but he could give us a discounted rate for 90 euros a night. He also suggested that we pay day by day so that we could add breakfast if needed. We thanked him profusely and took our keys to the room. The room was tiny for 100 or even 90 euros - the bathroom door when opened would hit the window but we figured since everything is expensive in Paris, this was ok. So 3 nights go by without incident. On the next day when we were ready to check out, there was this lady at the front desk who asked us what our room number was and said "ah yes, I want to talk to you". And here is the best part - She asked me why I was only paying them 90 euros a night when we had agreed upon 100 euros? So I went on to tell her about how her employee adjusted the rate for us when we checked in. And then she went on to saying -
She: "How can he do that? He has no authority..."
Me: "Uh...why are you asking me this? He should have talked to you about that."
She: "He didn't. How can you ask him for a discount when we have agreed on a price? You cannot do this, you cannot ask for a discount!"
Me: "What? What does that mean?"
At this point, she was literally yelling!!!
She:"You cannot ask for a discount after you have agreed via email on 100 euros a night"
I was P-Oed now.
Me: "As a customer, I can make requests for anything! Its up to you to let me know if it is possible or not. If you(or your employee) cannot give me a discount, you should have just said sorry, we can't and I would have just paid the 100 euros a night"

And more of the same kind of crap back and forth. I could not believe that somebody who has apparently had 25 years of experience could treat a customer like this! Its like they have no respect for customers and I doubt she even knows what the words "negotiation" or "bargaining" means? How does she shop? Has she never asked for a discount? wtf? I thought it was incredibly ridiculous for her to say that I could not ask for a discount! Anyways, in the end I didn't give up and ended up paying 90 euros for all 3 nights. We were coming back to Paris the week after and I had reserved a room in the same hotel and I promptly cancelled that reservation as well. The last thing I want to do is give these creeps my business again. Turned out that I found a MUCH better place online for 75 euros a night.

If you are like us, that are used to being treated with respect like we are in the USA, you should definitely avoid this place like the plague! I absolutely don't think we should be giving people like this our business but you could, if you like being treated like crap, but I'm sure you are not, so don't go there.

Room Tip: We enjoyed our stay at Gare de l'Est Français. I would recommend going there instead!
