Yes it is right opposite the Gard du Nord station, result!! Check in OK then left to our devices to carry our luggage to our room. Room Ok, big bed but the bathroom could do with updating. Advice to travellers..buy ear plugs if you are facing the street if you want the windows open. The street noise is loud and starts early (dustmen etc). As we stayed in January we could keep the windows closed thankfully, god forbid staying there in summer.
Breakfast was plentiful and enjoyable and set you up for the day's site seeing.
Barman friendly and chatty and good to get ideas for places to see.
Checkout was poor. We had paid via a travel agent and they asked us to pay again. When I pointed this out they then rang the tour operator in front of me which I thought very rude.
Overall a pleasant stay and lots of local restaurants and bars to frequent

Room Tip: Don't get a room on the street side unless you are a good sleeper

Dear Dillon,

Firstly I would like to thank you for taking the time to advise of your recent stay at Mercure Paris Terminus Nord.

We were very pleased to read that you enjoyed our plentiful breakfast buffet.

On the other hand I was very disappointed to read of your experience during your check-out. Whilst an apology will regrettably not alter the outcome of your experience on this occasion, I do extend it with all sincerity. This level of service is certainly not acceptable and will be addressed with the concerned party.

We hope to welcome you again very soon.

Kind regards,

Jean-Louis Descoins

The hotel is conveniently located right outside Terminus Gare du Nord. Extremely convenient if you arrive in Paris via the Eurostar. Extra points as the metro station is almost right in front of the hotel. The metro is very easy to navigate and all the tourist attractions are easily accessible via the metro. The room itself has only the bare essentials. I didn't even have a mini fridge. But there are lots of restaurants and cafés surrounding the hotel and you are spoilt for choice as far as food is concerned. From the bakery (on the street closer to the train station) with the snooty staff (the Paris that you read about) and the lovely French restaurant (on the street further from the station) with the wonderfully friendly staff (the Paris that is so delightfully charming) the area is fast paced, a little noisy in the day but totally intoxicating. A special mention must be made of the staff at the hotel. They are so very polite and friendly - from check in right up to check out. But minus points for the maze that you must navigate to and from the lifts to your room. Just follow the signs. All in all, very convenient location and easily accessible to the usual tourist attractions.

This hotel is directly opposite the Gard du Nord , it is therefore perfect for a short stay in Paris if you do not want to be bothered getting taxis to and from hotels and you can check out on your last day, spend a day in Paris without bags and then return just before your train journey to collect your bags from the hotel, perfect !
We booked the Priviledge rooms, which I would advise doing as they seem to be much better than others. Our friends were mistakenly not given a Priviledge room to start with and it wasnt that great. The hotel did resolve the issue when asked but unfortunately then tried to charge for 3 rooms on check out ! . Again mistake was resolved by the staff helped by having my Booking.com confirmation printed out in French. The Priviledge Rooms are actually marked on the door as being this, so that's how you can check !. Our room was actually very good spacious for Paris it had its own sitting separate sitting room. Small bedroom but v comfy bed . Windows that opened Hooray and facing the internal courtyard so not noisy. Room 528 . The staff were very helpful at resolving problems. The breakfast buffet was delicous excellent value full breakfast . Busy dining room as clearly everyone realised it was good value. I would definintely reccommend this hotel if you want convenience to Gard du Nord. The metro is very close ( obbviously !) and also main avenues for catching taxis. We did not eat in cafes near the hotel but they all looked bustling and Parisian !

Room Tip: Get a Priviledge Room, internal facing ( unless you want a view of the GArd du Nord !) higher floor...

We stayed in this Hotel in July 2013 for five nights as the first stay of our Europe trip. We arrived from Sydney in early morning and reached Hotel by train. The staff at the Reception were courageous. We requested early check-in but could not get the room until 1 P.M. Our room was facing Gare de Nord station so we had great views. From the room balcony itself I took good pictures of the station building. The room and bathroom were old one but okay. We did not like the wooden stirrer (not a spoon) in the tea/coffee making tray.
The location is great, just opposite the train station from where you can go to any place. We went to London for one day by Eurostar train and it could not be easier than this. To catch the Eurostar train we just entered the door opposite the hotel.
We took Hoff-on Hoff-off bus which has a stop at the front door of the hotel.
The breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices, although there was nothing hot for vegetarians like non-vegetarians who had several hot choices. We checked out early in the morning, and on our request, the staff gave us bags to fill whatever we liked for our breakfast.
Although the staff at the Breakfast room were not fluent in English, but we could make them understand our requirement.
The hotel is surrounded by several restaurants, even there were good Indian restaurants nearby.
Our TGV train for Lucerne was from Gare de Leon station, the taxi took about 20 minutes, 12 Euro.

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing Nord Station.

It's a mercury, so no surprises. Good service, comfortable (if small) room, clean and tastefully decorated. Also quiet, which is rare for central Paris. Loads of cafés and restaurants close by, but proximity to the rail station attracts a pretty rough crowd at night. I prefer to stay here and take a 30 min RER ride to the airport rather than stay near the airport with nothing to do or see.
