“Cosy stay”

This is a cosy apartment located in a nice homely neighborhood at the border of the 7th and 15th arrondisements. The apartment had two beds and a sofa bed that was sufficient to accommodate our family of four adults. The wifi was fast, and the kitchen was equipped with the required basic cooking amenities. The bathroom includes a washer and dryer. The apartment has nice large windows that bring in a cool breeze at night. We were there for three nights during the crazy heat wave that swept across Europe. The first two nights were really hot despite the windows and three fans providing some respite.

Most of our email correspondence prior to our arrival in Paris was with Nicole, Martine’s friend. She was very friendly and showed us around the apartment. She also gave us pointers to restaurants, supermarkets, metro lines (there are two stations at walking distance), and sights that were doable given the extreme daytime heat. Nicole pointed out some nice cafes that we walked to every morning for breakfast. Nicole met us again at checkout and walked us through the entire checkout list.

Note that there is no available closet space anywhere in the apartment. This wasn't a huge issue for us, and we managed out of our suitcases that stayed on the floor.

Overall, a pleasant stay!

“Live like a local!”

We had a great stay in this apartment! The owner was very accommodating and helpful!
Thank you Martine for everything. Because the apartment is not downtown you need to be comfortable with the Metro. It was very easy to access all tourist locations and even better to leave them behind once you were done for the day. The apartment has everything you could need and even in the very hot weather we stayed cool with fans. The local stores and restaurants in this area are very good and convenient. We would stay there again.

The good :
The towels were soft & fluffy
It was very close to several metro stations & supermarkets.

However , this is where is stops . The pictures were carefully taken so you don't see the clutter & thousands of books on display .We were met on arrival by a very pleasant woman who is a friend of the owner . The owner lives in the apartment & all her personal effects ( soap , razor etc )were in the bathroom ! We were given An extensive list of rules to follow , and what - not to do in the apartment . We were then also booked a time for a pre checkout inspection which was carried out the day before we left . We were questioned as to whether we had broken anything , and were then told to be honest if you have broken anything ( like naughty schoolchildren ) we were then given instructions on how to strip the beds and how to fold the used sheets and blankets on our departure . We were chastised for having a water bottle on a table as it could leave a mark . We were then told to leave our leftovers in the fridge , as the French don't like wasted food ! The apartment was not big enough for four adults - even though we had been advised previously by the owner it was fine . It was very dusty inside the rooms. The apartment may be ok for just two adults if that's what you are looking for . It would be good if the owner was clearer on the site that she lived there , and that all her personal stuff remains there during your stay !

Management Response
23 Jun 2015
I finish my presentation writing" I will be happy to welcome you in my apartment " and I do precise the sizes of the beds.
So it is clearly a personal apartment, not a hotel suite or an impersonal specially for tourists furnished apartment.
As far as books are concerned, I do love them, so avoid my place if it is not your cup of tea.
And I occasionally forget to remove a few personal things . Sorry for that. Future visitors, do not hesitate to put them aside.
Thanks in any case for the advice and remarks, it does help me to improve my welcome. I did replace the pillows following a former review for example.

“Cosy, clean, well-equipped and perfectly situated appartment”
Reviewed 25 May 2015 for a stay in May 2015

We were two couples visiting Paris and enjoyed our stay in Martine's appartment just 20 minutes from the Tour Eiffel and other highlights like the Musée Rodin. In one of the two bedrooms there was only a small 1,20m-bed, which anyway proved to be big enough for one couple. We enjoyed the nice furniture, a happy mixture of antic and rather modern, and were introduced to the use and functioning of the machines and instruments provided for us in the kitchen by a very helpful Madame. We would highly recommend this flat to one or two couples or a family who likes a kind of homey feeling in such a big and crowded metropole as Paris.

“Roomy alternative with home feeling in a Parisian apartment in a convenient location for a long stay.”
Reviewed 27 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

The owner, Martine (and her friend in her absence) was responsive and helpful in answering queries and in both check in and check out. The owner actually is still living in his apartment (of course, absence during the rental period; but available through email/internet/whatsapp and a standby phone number - it is an added comfort as we are not French speaking).

I chose this location at the advice of my Parisian friend. (I shortlisted other locations which my friend advised against and in my friend's words "when we travel, we want to feel safe in where we stay"). The apartment is within walking distance (about 5 minutes or less) to two subway stations, thus very convenient for going anywhere in the City. In addition, restaurants and grocery stores are all close by. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the Eiffel Tower, thus a sunset walk to the Eiffel Tower after dinner is an option. We also enjoyed our visit to Musée de l'Armée (Army Museum; < 20 minutes walk from the apartment), in particular the amazing collection of Old Armour and Weapons.

I felt uncomfortable with the absence of a TV when I first arrived. Subsequently I noted that we don't really need it as we are using our own tablets and Android phones through the Wifi provided for both communication and entertainment after the long day (we were all tired from the extensive walking required in our sight seeing there). I had problem in using the Wifi in the smaller bedroom (no problem in other areas) and the shower facilities are about average for an apartment. We heard some background noise from the subway at night, which however did not bother us and was not loud as the apartment is facing other apartments' roof, i.e., located opposite to the main road and on higher floor.

The apartment is more spacious than we expected (still relatively small compared to North American apartment size) and we found it better and more comfortable than squeezing in a small hotel room in particular for a long stay. When we arrived "home", we have everything accessible like living at home (washing machine, kitchen, coffee maker, fridge....).

Don't expect the service of a hotel (as it is a rental apartment); however, overall I enjoyed my stay there and definitely would prefer this to staying in a hotel, in particular during our stay we could stay in touch with the owner/landlord who has been very hospitable and helpful to make our stay and sight seeing trip as comfortable as possible. At the end of our stay, a strike was announced that could affect our flight back home, and Martine checked up on the local news for us and updated us on latest development. Luckily our flight was not affected but we still very much appreciate the extra steps that Martine took to non French speaking travelers like us.

Taxi from Eurostar station is about EUR 20 and to the CDG Airport is EUR 60, for us.
