“You just get what you pay for”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 May 2012

I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights this month.

I basically agree with the person below – you just get what you pay for and it is not fair to give bad review just because it is a budget hotel.

The receptionist was not especially friendly when I arrived but another younger guy in the following day was very friendly.
The room is relatively small but it was more than enough for just to sleep.
The hotel is in one of the dirtiest areas (I believe) but only 2 mins from Gare du Nord where Eurostar arrives.
The walls are thin and I was annoyed by people staying next door who were constantly chatting until 4 o’clock in the morning with loud Indian music, but this is not hotel’s fault.
Internet worked ok for me even though I stayed on the 4 th floor.

The only one surprise was that I found a dirty cleaning towel on my bed when I came back to the room...

After all, I cannot complain considering the price.

- Way cheap
- Great location
- Wifi worked for me
- The person at the counter spoke plenty sufficient english

I don't understand some reviews. I did not expect a palace nor did I get it but I got a nice little room that provided a great jumping off point to go see Paris. If you want a 5 star hotel, go pay for one.

The hotel is old, smelly, creaky and nasty
It should be closed down and remodeled .
Over priced
Only thing good about it- the location

Room Tip: If you love comfort! Don't come here

A very small hotel located near 2 big stations: Gare du Nord and Gare de l'est. Here you can park your car for 20euro a full day. In the streets it won't be possible.

The surroundings of the hotel are so so: when we arrived some people had a big fight in front of the hotel. And the street smells like urine.

You have to be lucky if you have a english speaking person behind the desk. During checking in we had a discussion with the owner, we talked english, he french. Luckily we knew some french. In the morning there was a english speaking lady, very kind. I found it bad he didn't knew english (like all french people).

Our room was small and very hot. The bed was almost a one person bed, so small. We had a room next to the stairscase. Which brought a lot of noise in the morning. Also you could here other people walk and talk very clearly. So we barely slept. Wi-fi did work in our room though.

Breakfast is not what I expected: 1 croissant, 1 piece of baguette. I believe is was 2 days old. And some butter with honey and tea or milk. So not much to eat.

I'm glad we only stayed here for 1 night (during new years eve). I'll never go here again. There are many other cheap hotels which are better and lie in the same location and perhaps in a better street.

Room Tip: Get a room on the top floors, to avoid noises

Small hotel within walking distance of Gare du Nord and Gare de L'est....a half a block from underground station to take you anywhere. Front desk staff was hit or miss as far as speaking English and being able to help with directions, etc. Room was small but clean and nice. The area is not the best but really not too bad- lots of mid-priced cafes and bistros with decent food in the area. Elevator was the smallest I have ever seen. The front desk lady tried to put my friend and I and our 3 bags in it and we didn't all fit! That was just funny. Only real negative about the room was only one outlet and very high up so charging phone, camera, etc was a challenge.

Very near the Euro-star terminal/metro and a few restaurants nearby.

The bathroom is very small and the wi-fi doesn't really work (we were already on the first floor) unless you stand outside the corridor. The plug is outside the bathroom, not near the table, so its difficult to plug your laptop etc....

Great if you are traveling around Paris!

The hotel is very easily reached from the Gare Du Nord or Gare De L'est. This is in the Latin Quarter of Paris, not the chic and far more expensive tourist areas and you should bear that in mind. I walked back alone at all times of night and had no issues at all. The room was small, but had everything you need without frills. The towels were changed daily, the soaps and shampoos as well. Staff were courteous at all times and with a smattering of my poor French were helpful (please and thank-you go a long way in any language, especially the native tongue! ) As a base for the exploration of Paris this is very reasonable and with the stations so close you are conveniently located. Just remember that you aren't paying 4* prices either

Room Tip: Try 'S'il vous plait' and 'Merci beaucoup'
