I have thought about not writing this review as I usually pick the great experiences and decide to write about those. However, having read the great reviews about this place I thought it would be helpful to add that they are all right on the food in my view, which is great. Service too. But if you want to have a local environment with people around you speaking French and not English than this is not the place to go.

The food at Bistrot de L'Oulette is outstanding and the service was as well. We were a family of 13 and they were able to accommodate us perfectly. My apologies to the staff for our loud conversations as we had just arrived in Paris and this was the first stop. What a great first dining experience. Truly delicious french cuisine.

Absolutely delicious food. Duck confit is superbly done. A must have. The service was very good. Nice small little bistro. The sorbet was so nicely done. It had bits of fruit. Very nice. Highly recommend.

We were walking through the Marais near Place des Vosges and saw Bistrot de L'Oulette. It looked great and the reviews were amazing, so we made it a point to return for dinner. Luckily they are open late, so we arrived around 9:30 pm. The restaurant is intimate and the service superb. They provided us an amuse bouche of tuna on a crostini that was delicious and went well with our Kir Royale aperitif. We ordered the prix fix, which is a good deal. For a starter I ordered warm fois gras on toast that just melted in my mouth. My wife ordered an eggplant based terrine that they enjoyed. For my main I had duck cassoulet that was out of this world and went well with our bottle of Bordeaux. And then for dessert I had an apple cake, which was the special of the night. Since it was the restaurant's last night before August vacation, they celebrated with us with a bottle of champagne to end the night. Just a terrific experience!

I had spent the morning at Musee Picasso and had decided based on reviews to see if I could have lunch at Bistro de L'Oulette without a reservation. Fortunately I was able to get a table and enjoyed a delicious chestnut & chorizo strip soup followed by supreme poulet, roasted potatoes and gravy.

The other diners seems to be regular locals and the atmosphere was very pleasant and suited dining solo.

Would recommend this restaurant to anyone in the general vicinity of Place des Vosges.
