The place was packed when we went, although I get the impression it always is and it must be in the guide books as it was full of tourists but the food and the experience is very French. Great simple French food at very low prices. Locals can be found there too. If you're looking for a real Parisian experience you should go here. We have the Pave au poivre with fries - great value.

One of must go restaurant for experience "Classic Paris".

Easy access from central Paris by 45 - 20 mins walk, recommend go for weekday lunch.

Ordering still keep in french only. Delicious food, wine & dessert all are unforgettable as reasonable prices.

Thanks and enjoy for nice diners & staff sharing their joy & joke with us.

Bread and water provided. We ordered the foie gras, the recommended beef stew and fish dish and a dessert.

Was really yummy and affordable.

within less than five minutes from the Grand Boulevards metro entrance (rue Faubourg Montmarte exit). Get there earlier rather than later or you'll be standing in line for minimum 20 min or longer - if you are there on A Sunday or holiday Monday, the lines are longer and the waits are longer. Appetizer, plat du jour, and dessert for approximately 20 euros - the daily special is written on a blackboard on the right as you enter from the street. Food is plentiful and tastes like good home cooking. Can be seated with other visitors to the city of Paris from other parts of the world. Service is fairly fast paced. They seem to like to get you in and out - not for those who want a lingering, leisurely dinner experience. Go for a walk just around the corner along Haussmann Blvd after dinner. Enjoy the tree lined ambience of the area and everyone sitting out in cafes on the street drinking coffee, wine, beer.

Had a meal here recently. It was OK but nothing more. It was more like a canteen in and out as quick as possible. Can't understand the queues of people waiting to get in. However on a positive note the building itself is historical and very beautiful. I won't be going back to eat.
